    Bye Bye Giants

    FROM ROTOWORLD.COM

Giants' GM Brian Sabean appears close to throwing in the towel on the 2004 season.
''I'm not much for patience,'' Sabean said Thursday. ''Last year we won 100 games. This year, we've won 17. I might have to eat some of our roster. Let some guys go with (big) contracts. Reshape things. Give some kids a chance.'' Don't expect any big moves before June, but some players to look for in San Francisco include outfielder Todd Linden, shortstop Cody Ransom, and pitchers Merkin Valdez, David Aardsma, and Matt Cain. J.T. Snow, Marquis Grissom, Edgardo Alfonzo, Brett Tomko, A.J. Pierzynski, Neifi Perez, Michael Tucker, Kirk Rueter, Ray Durham and other disappointing players could be dealt or released depending on how much Sabean shakes things up.

Yea it's getting towards that time of the year. The contenders start to distance themselves and teams begin to throw in the towel. I'm sure other teams, like the Royals or Mariners, are just about ready to start to trade some of the older players for younger ones.

In the Giants case you kinda saw this coming as age was creeping up on them. Same with the M's but I didn't expect the Royals to do so poorly.

I hope my Jays can get a cheapie from one of those teams. They themselves are looking to be pretenders this year

and soon, we'll be hearing barry say that he doesn't have time left in his career to go through a rebuilding period. well, as much as i like to see barry retire as a giant, i would love to see beltran in san francisco in a three-way trade involving barry. barry seems to be destined to finish his career as a DH, so why not just make the move now when the best player in baseball, beltran, is available?

Beltran the best player in baseball? I don't know many people who would agree with that statement.

Okay, unfortunately I know the guy, and he isn't the nicest guy in the world. I mean, don't take this the wrong way, he's a very nice guy, very warm towards people that he knows (like my dad for one), but I can say what I said, because I know his oldest son (Colin), and he's somewhat of those snotty hotheads that think they're the [censored] at baseball and stuff, and I can tell that his attitude carries on from his dad. He's at Serra High School, though, I decided to go to a public school... lucky for me I'm not on his team (he's pretty nice, until you meet him on the field).

Anyways, that didn't really have to do with what I was going to say, but I jsut felt like saying that. All that I'm saying is that he can't blame the team for the stupid moves, or lack of moves, that he made. There was no need to keep Snow, and have Perez as our best shortstop. Also, hello?, haven't you watched any Giants games Sabean? Right field at SBC Park is not a hitter friendly area, so to get Pierzynski wasn't the best move ever either, same with Tucker.

Too many bad moves, I think.
