    The 2004 Draft

Anybody else anticipating this as much as I am?

I watched the entire ACC Baseball Tourney this past weekend in Salem, Virginia, and I was VERY impressed with FSU shortstop Stephen Drew. He will go either #1 or #2, and the other spot will be filled by Jered Weaver.

IMO - Drew will pan out to be a good major league player. He has all the tools to be a complete ballplayer, and has the work ethic.

When he gets drafted, it will be the first time in MLB history that a trio of brothers has been selected in the first round.. following JD and Tim.

If he's taken by the Padres (I'm beginning to hear he's a possiblility), I doubt he'll be playing shortstop. They might try him at either second or center if he's picked. That's my input if the Padres take him.

Yeah, he'd be a great fit at second base, and the double play combo of Drew and Green would be lethal for years to come. However, I'm pretty sure the Pads will take Weaver with the first pick..

my cousin Matt Payne from Alexander Central HS has a great shot at going pro. we have seen scouts from all over the MLB at some of his games.

                            Great thread....

I can't wait for the draft. I know the Pads are looking at either Drew or Weaver, but I hope they go with Weaver. Nothing against Drew, but the Pads have Barfield in the minors, maybe a year away from cracking the bigs. What about this... Pads draft Drew to be the future second baseman, then Pads trade Nady, Barfield to Royals for Beltran?

                            Your thoughts....
