Fernando Rodney celebrating while Punto is unleashing his rage makes that such an incredible gif.

It was questionable, but probably a lot closer than you'd might think according to the chart below. Not to mention that Punto squats down pretty hard too to make it seem higher than it was.

The pitch wasn't THAT far off. I've seen that pitch get called a strike plenty of times this year. I'm sure there have been far, far worse pitches that were called strikes.

I'm a fan of this gem from last year...

Once again (only because I've mentioned it in another thread), although this pitch was a ball, it's not as far off as most think, nor is it the worst I've seen before. It's actually pretty darn close to a strike. Where and how the catcher receives it is what is fooling you, but where it crosses at the front of the plate just makes it outside, not low.

I guess if you're gonna argue balls/strikes, that's the time to do it. Rodney's reaction is such an argument for if someone wants to style on a walk-off HR shot, then there should be no retribution. But, it's all such showboatin' garbage.


And my FP Santangelo update: joined the Phils/Nats game very late when it was basically out of reach. Santangelo comments on how Rendon hit the ball HARD his 1st 2 ABs, announcing how it resulted in a DP. Upon watching the condensed game, I'm looking at a routine 2 hop ground ball to Rollins.

But, of course, as Santangelo might comment, it was probably the BEST routine 2 hop grounder for a DP that was ever hit by anyone in the majors thus far.

Haha, yeah. He probably also said the pitch that Jordan Zimmermann threw before he came out with the injury was the best pre injury pitch there ever was. If I had to listen to that guy for 162 games I would seriously let a bear rip my ears off.

LOL, tomorrow Rays are having a BASKETBALL giveaway. Baseball in Florida is so dead they have to give away stuff from another sport(though basketball in Florida will be almost dead too since there's no Lebron lol)

Good to see Detroit getting back at KC after the last 4 gamer.

Also good to see Porcello bounce back
