I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
A.) Keep him, hope for a playoff run or at least pretending to be competitive, and choose whether or not to resign him.
B.) Keep him, and deal him at the deadline to a desperate team for a semi-important piece.
C.) Deal him now for almost literally nothing.
Like, you don't need to deal every vet you have when you're rebuilding. I love that the Padres just extended Seth Smith. The difference between tanking for the 8th pick and the 15th pick, for example, isn't big. It's about $10m, or like one Scott Feldman. But the difference in value between maintaining a semi-competitive team and tanking in terms of profit and revenue? Huge. It can cost you fans.
Baseball is the one sport where you don't need to tank to assemble a great roster of prospects. Hockey, to an extent, but mainly baseball. Tanking doesn't make sense in baseball imo. This is more of a general point, as the Twins did exactly what I liked to see in making FA signings in Nolasco and Hughes, but I don't like that they sold Morales for next to nothing here. I'd rather see them put a semi competitive team on the field than deal a useful player for next to nothing.

I'm hoping that it can't get any worse for Morales and hopefully his time with the twins acts as "spring training".Comment

Jon Heyman is reporting the Phillies are shopping Ryan Howard and will most if not all of his salary in a trade. They are looking for a match.Comment

Assuming that they mean eating the entire contract. And if they're just talking about this year, no team will do it.
They probably couldn't eat more than $5m before it stops being worth it for them."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
