That's kind of pointless. Where's he gonna play? Full time 2B behind Howie Kendrick. Played 3B ... in 2009. And 6 innings at shortstop. Just weird.

Tigers could really have used him long term to replace Austin Jackson. 7 years, 72.5 M, structured like this:

2014: 100 K, but 5.4 M signing bonus
2015-2017: 10.5 M
2018, 2019: 11 M
2020: player option worth 13.5 M

They back load it to help with the luxury tax.

Whether it is worth it or not comes down to how well he can hit. He has plus speed and plus defense in center, although not to the point where it'll provide the full value of the contract by itself.
