Re: 2014 MLB Trade Deadline Thread
As a Mariners fan I would not trade Walker for Price straight up. It is not worth it. Have we not learned anything from the Bedard trade, other than Jack Z is just as incompetent as Bavasi was? Why in the hell would you trade 2 or 3 of our best prospects for a pitcher, when we don't even need pitching? The only way this trade would be worth it, is if we win the world series, and with the way our offense is currently constructed that isn't going to happen. Why trade Walker, and Peterson for Price when we could get Giancarlo Stanton for that? It makes no sense, we need to be looking to trade our assets for hitters NOT pitchers. Price doesn't even want to be in Seattle, and wont resign. No Thanks.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Latest On Trade Talks Between Mariners, Rays
By Jeff Todd [July 18, 2014 at 2:34pm CDT]
FRIDAY: Taijuan Walker‘s name is once again at the center of trade talks surrounding Price, reports Heyman. He adds that Tampa has also expressed interest in the likes of corner infield prospect D.J. Peterson and James Paxton, neither of which is particularly surprising; Peterson and Paxton are two of the top young players in Seattle’s system.
The two sides are discussing various iterations of deals for Price, Zobrist or both. Heyman adds that Seattle might be willing to include Brad Miller in a deal as well, given the emergence of Triple-A shortstop Chris Taylor. The M’s, however, have said they won’t deal Mike ZuninoComment

Doesn't surprise me, Jack Z is an idiot. We need impact hitters not pitchers you moron. I can't believe how he is still employed. If I did my job as bad as he does his, I would have been fired my first week on the job.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Not that it would happen, but if the Dodgers agreed to send Pederson, Urias, and Lee to the Phillies, Hamels would be out of here in a flash.Comment

Comparing Price to Bedard is also an insult to Price. At the time of the Bedard trade, he hadn't even topped 200 innings yet. David Price is a Cy Young winning pitcher who is pitching almost as well as Felix has been lately. With Price, you know for sure what you're getting, which is a bonafide ace. The idea behind it would be that you could roll out a rotation of Felix, Price, and Iwakuma, and even a number four of Chris Young, who is pitching out of his mind right now. If the Mariners can't find an impact bat at a reasonable cost, then it's not a bad idea to just continue building on one of their strengths.Comment

They will have to give up Walker, Peterson, Paxton, Franklin, Miller. Probably more especially if they are going to get both Zobrist and Price.Comment
