    Hidalgo to the Mets....

ESPN is reporting that Hidalgo has been traded to the Mets for Weathers, although apparently the Mets are denying this.

What's up with Hidalgo this year? He broke out to begin the season by leading the NL in RBIs for a few weeks; since then he can't buy a hit. It's especially weird given that he's in a walk-year. His last walk-year was that monster .314, 44 homer season.

Any thoughts on whether he'll break out with the Mets? I tend to think that he will - while he may not be the player that hit 44 homers with 120+ rbis and a .314 average, I certainly think he's a lot better than the way he's playing now. If he was going to the Yanks then I'd question whether he could handle the NY media, but since he's playing for the Mets I don't think there will be quite bright of a spotlight on him. Here's hoping he goes nuts....Let's Go Mets!!!

While I was hoping for something better, I also hope for nothing but the best.

Not a great move (or bad one), but a temporary solution to the fifth hole in the lineup...Better than Karim Garcia and I think Hidalgo has a cannon of an arm in the outfield. We'll see...

It's worth a shot. Hidalgo can put up great numbers but he has been in an awful funk lately. It's a chance worth taking for the Mets. Maybe he can turn it around in NY.

In other news, Reyes will be joining the team on Friday. This means that something will happen to him tonight.

WOW I am pretty happy with this deal, I think Richard Hidalgo still has alot of baseball left in him and at 28 he sure has maybe some more good years to come. I can' tell you how happy I am to see Weathers go, I coulnd't stand him at all. This year he gave up to many runs, he just is too old and I thinks he Stinks. Im happy overall with this deal.
