The Mets also gave up pitcher Jeremy Griffiths in the deal.

He's shown nothing to indicate hes a MLB pitcher. He puts up good AAA numbers, but the Astros really need help at the back end of the rotation.

If Hidalgo couldn't hit in Minute Maid Park I'm not too confident he'll light it up at Shea. Still, a change of scenery is in order and hopefully he can do well enough to post some respectable numbers.

Worst case scenerio: if Hidalgo does not work out for the Mets they can buy out his contract for $2 mil.

No doubt they buy him out, even if he does well. There is no way they will pay him 15 million next season, thats a joke.

Good deal for the Mets. If Hidalgo does anything, then he is a good guy to slide in the #5 hole, and can protect Floyd. He is a fairly good outfielder, too. If he does nothing, then the Mets gave up nothing to get him (although Weathers is a decent reliever, he is not integral to this team, and Griffiths is not a bona fide MLB starter) and can rent him for the rest of the season.
