Ron Washington resigns per MLB.com. Tim Bogar named Interim Manager.

He hasn't managed for most of the season, so I'm guessing he decided he's tired of going to the ballpark and travelling.

I wonder if he was pressured to resign or if this was him wanting out. If it's him wanting out, I don't think that looks good IMO - the Rangers backed him when the drug stuff came out and now the going gets tough and it looks like he bails. We don't know the whole story though…

EDIT - NM, they just read his statement on the Cubs game he's got something personal going on and it's not related to the team's performance.

That's too bad to hear that there are personal issues that forced him to resign. I'm not the biggest fan of Washington but he did a very good job with the Rangers and the organization stood by him when the drug stuff came out. I hope things work out for the best for him.

It's a sad day in Arlington. Things just won't be the same without Wash in the dugout. Godspeed you awesome, crazy bastard. Thanks for giving us endless entertainment and the best years of baseball the Rangers have ever seen.

Ben Revere ties the game in the 9th inning on a 2 out 2 strike home run! His second career home run. So much sweeter seeing that against the Gnats.

Welp....The Jays' chances of the playoffs are even slimmer than ever now with Melky getting his pinky broken on a pickoff attempt.

                "sigh"

EDIT: Effing Casey Janssen. They might as well experiment with Morrow in the closer role now.

Never understood why a walk-off ground rule double with the bases loaded only scores one run.

I was wondering how that was going to be scored. Right now it just appears as a single in the box score although it clearly bounced into the stands. I didn't think it was even possible to hit a ground rule double to centre field at Fenway. That was some rubber ball bounce.

No, it's actually in the rules that only one run counts in the "bases loaded/walkoff GR2B" situation. I remember looking it up back in my EA days. I just don't understand the reason for the rule.

Oakland is on a miserable slide right now. The mariners are somehow only two games behind them now for the first wild card spot.

Yeah, I'm thinking the A's are going to slide right out of the playoffs.
