Congratulations to the Angels. Can't wait to see them in the playoffs.

The Athletics are 11-24 since Aug. 9. Their games have become a nightly torture ritual for the fan base.

Did Cespedes really mean THAT much to the A's...I knew in the back of my mind when I saw that trade that it would come back to bite them but I didn't expect them to completely fall off the face of the earth.

Sadly, the two NL pitchers they brought in have ranged from piss poor to very average since coming to Oakland. If this wasn't Oakland I'd think the media would be killing Beane right now.

To be fair, they were 9-8 in the 17 games before the trade, but yes Cespedes did mean that much. Much more than his numbers would indicate. I mentioned their win percentages when the trade happened (63% with/35% without, since 2012) and was laughed at.

I like Lester, and the A's would have lost Cespedes in either the winter or by the deadline next year anyway, but I didn't like the trade because it changed the team dynamic too much in the middle of the season.

The Hitler/Nazi Cespedes trade video still perfectly sums up my feelings on the whole thing. I TRY to look at the season as a whole. It's only way to not be upset with what is happening.

Lots of teams would kill to be 2 games up on the WC with the 10 games left. Just get in and roll your dice in the crap shoot that is the playoffs.

Yeah, he gets away with it because there are never any expectations. Part of me wonders if he even wants the expectations that a new stadium/city would bring.

Beane is constantly in tinker mode. He always trusts that his GM skills will allow him to treat current "proven" talent as disposable and overvalued, because there will always be cheaper, more flexible talent out there for him to bring in. In this case both Lester and Cespedes were disposable, but he will have nothing to show for it next season. Only in Oakland...

The A's are about to be swept at home by the worst team in baseball.

The Pirates really luck out, get to 82, and are one game down in the division. Huge series against the Brewers coming up.

I see the Mariners are giving King Felix his requisite run support tonight...

Absolutely criminal what offenses do to their own pitchers, man.

Regardless of the outcome it's already an embarrassment of a performance...Angels scratched Jered Weaver and trotted out a triple a lineup, and the Mariners still can't do ****. I haven't been this angry all season.

At least LoMo came through…although Rodney did what he could to give it away. AL WC race looking interesting...

If the M's make the playoffs I would NOT be comfortable at all with Rodney at the closer position. I could see him melting down in the heat of the postseason.
