If he would have played a full season he literally would have set the single season record for striking out.

Phil Hughes had his last start today. Needed 8 1/3 to activate a $500K bonus. Pitched lights out for 8 innings, but didn't come back after an hour rain delay.

Gardenhire is defiantly saying he's done for the season. Won't be allowed to pitch that 1/3 of an inning. Nice thanks for the only pitcher worth a damn in the starting rotation. He just posted the best season ever in terms of K/BB ratio for an ERA qualifying pitcher.

Is there a story behind this? Seems to me like Gardenhire is being an a-hole for no reason.

He just got fed up with reporters asking him about it I think.

I mentioned this in the off-topic…if I'm the owner I write him the bonus check anyway. He earned it with his season and that 1/3 of an inning doesn't change that.

That call for him not to get that 1/3 could've come from "up top".

That would be the right thing to do, but we're talking about an organization that built a stadium with public money then slashed payroll 25% over 2 seasons.

Nah, don't think there was any kind of conspiracy. Hour long rain delay, one-run game. I think he sits any other time. He was for sure coming back out for the 9th without the delay though. Only on 96 pitches.

Brewers still alive. 1 down 4 to go. Brewers must go 4-0 and Giants go 0-4.

Kershaw was just showing off tonight. Pitched a gem, hit a triple and knocked in a run, and made a great defensive play that saved 2 runs.

What a great way to clinch the division title (and #2 seed).

This series was quite anticlimactic, I suppose. Energetic games but generally foregone conclusions.

No words for Kershaw. Really no words.

I really hope we get Kershaw a WS ring. If anyone deserves it, he does.

That's 3 words, technically. I don't know how I feel about pitchers getting consideration for the MVP award. He definitely deserves the Cy Young again, he's been amazing this year. Too bad he was hurt the first month, it would've been fun to see his numbers in a full season.
