Adding Garcia brings them back to where they were last year. They still need #4 & #5 in the rotation to come through. This is a good deal for the Sox only if they sign Garcia long-term. If he's a rental, i don't think he's worth the price they paid unless they go deep into the playoffs. I give Kenny Williams credit for always having the balls to make a big deal and try to help his team. It doesn't always work, but that's what GMs are supposed to do when they get close: go for it.

It'll be interesting to see if the Twins do anything to respond to this. My hunch is they wait until they get Shannon Stewart back before they decide on any deals. They are a conservative organization, and this year, doing nothing and waiting for the Sox to implode might not be the best strategy. It should be interesting.

The biggest difference is that we don't have Jerry Manuel this year. We have a manager that guys are willing to play for.

I got a feeling that the Twinkies are working on a deal. Your right, if the Twinkies aren't going to do anything and just sit back and wait for the Soxs to impode they are going to find themselves several games out of first.

Being a White Sox fan, I'm not counting the Twinkies out just yet.

You can't count the Twins out yet. They are in first place, you know. They've also won the last 2 division titles, and have held onto the division lead this year despite having put more players on the DL than any other team in baseball. Still, the Sox have a powerfull line-up, and now a deeper rotation. They could easily pull away from the Twins if everyone puts it together at once.

HOWEVER, let's not forget that the Sox made a big deal last year and it didn't matter. The Twins seem to play well in the 2nd half when the pressure is on, and the Sox have folded the past 2 seasons. Also, Ozzie Guillen is a rookie manager, and not a great game manager, at that. He's unproven. The Sox still have questions, so don't hand them the title just yet.

I have a feeling the Twins are talking to teams about starting pitchers and bullpen help, but i don't see them making a move right away. I'll bet they wait until Stewart is back, and see if Romero can turn it around before they dive in. The Twins are fortunate to have some solid, MLB-ready prospects that they can plug in before they have to enter the trade market. I'd like to see them go that route here before the All-Star break, and if they don't pan out, then see what you can get in a trade. This division should be a fun one to watch from here on out.

Sox have an easier second half schedule this year than the Twins do. Last year the Twinkies second half was a cakewalk.

We also got Michael Morse, who is an infielder with some power.

It's a 162 game season and the Sox and Twins play roughly the same schedule. The Twins seem to play better against tough competition, anyway.

Ha Ha what? You guys always play well against the tough competiton in the play-offs right? Especially in recent history. I love seeing the Yankees and the rest of the American league wipe the floor with Brad Radke and Co. When the Twins decide to muster up the cash and make a move anywhere near this one then get back to me.
