Re: Who is your pick for rookie of the year?
The rookies crop is pretty week this year, especially position players.
Top candidates in the AL right now are Lew Ford, Bobby Crosby, Eric Bedard, Daniel Cabrera, Jason Frasor, and Shingo Takatsu.
Based on the numbers right now, I'd probably go with Lew Ford. But if Takatsu does as well in the closer's role as he did as a reliever this year, he will likely win the award.
In the NL, top rookies IMO are Matt Holliday, Aaron Miles, Akinori Otsuka, Chad Cordero, Duaner Sanchez, Ryan Madson, Jeff Bennett, Mike Gallo, Tim Harikkala, and Orber Moreno.
At this point, I'd likely go with Otsuka. He's been great in relief for SD, picking up 17 holds and posting a 1.63 ERA. Plus his K:BB ratio is almost 4:1. I liked Aaron Miles before the season, especially in Coors, so I still like his chances as well.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Re: Who is your pick for rookie of the year?
NL: Jason Bay, he's still rookie of the year eligible and has almost passed all the rookies in most offensive categories despite that he was out for a while to start the season.Comment

Heh, I didn't even see him. I was going through the rookie stats and after about 180 ABs I quit looking. Yeah, he's a definitely possibility.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II
