    Re: Yankees-Red Sox

What a game. That game shows what a TEAM is all about.Players like Cairo coming through for them and Flaherty batting 153 gets the winning RBI.

That is why the RED SOX will always be second fiddle to the Yankees. There was no team unity on that Sox bench last night.Nomar acted like he didn't even care.

Jeter showed why he is the captain. He just wants to win at any cost. He would be the first player I would want on my team If I had to assemble a team.

Those six games in April mean nothing now. I don't see how the Sox can catch the Yankees now. They are winning now without Brown and Giambi.

And that was bull with Pedro hitting Sheffield.Somebody ought to take this guy in an alley ane beat him to a pulp. Then Sheffield gets hit again and the umpires do nothing(what a joke)

The next game will be interesting I am sure the Yankees won't forget it.Even Torre commented about it after the game. They should just hit Manny at his next bat and I can guarantee that Pedro won't pull that crap again.

    Go YANKEES.

Sadly, I agree with you, and I am a huge Red Sox fan. I am seriously downright SICK of them to the point where I rarely even watch their games on TV anymore. I hope they do the Nomar for Clement deal, because IMO, he doesn't give a crap anymore. Sitting out the last game of a HUGE series just because of "rest" when we needed a win was crap, and shows how little he cares. It's truly sad how few clutch players we have. I don't remember the exact situations, but I know a few times in the series we had the bases loaded with 1 or no outs, and failed to score a run. That is downright pathetic. Ugh, I can't stand them playing like this, because they do it EVERY DAMN YEAR. As far as I am concerned, there is no way at all that we win the division, and right now, we are only playing for a wildcard spot.

UNBELIEVABLE GAME!!! I sat in the right field bleachers, and the crowd was pumped for every second of the game!

It was incredible... Jeter showed why he is the Yankee Captain, running full speed to make the catch and then diving into the crowd because of so much momentum.

This game had everything! Great plays. Good pitching to get out of jams. I believe it was the 11th inning when the Red Sox brought in 5 infielders. Dave McCarty and Kevin Millar had to change gloves about 4 times! Also, Arod at short for the first time as a Yankee.. Sheff at 3rd for the first time since '93!

WOW! A day later, I still cant get over it! It was great to see Red Sox Nation go crazy when Manny hit his 2nd homer in the top of the 13th, and then to watch their faces as they managed to blow yet another one with 2 outs in the bottom of the inning! Amazing Game! I've been to a lot of games, but this tops all of them! Might as well get the shovel and bury the Sox, cause the Yanks have just took the division! The only chance now is the Wild Card for Boston... unbelievable!

                  Re: Yankees-Red Sox

Theres not much more to be said about the outcome of the game. Curtis Leskanic looked like he was going to be the hero for Boston but clearly ran out of gas in the 13th, everything was up. Oh well, hopefully this game lights a fire in the Red Sox that hasn't been there this season and even puts a chip on their shoulder.

As for Pedro and Sheffield, just by going to various messageboards I see so many Yankee fans upset with "Pay-dro" and for what he did. This coming from fans who rooted for Roger Clemens the past few years. Pedro's team underachieved the whole series and needed a momentum boost. When Sheffield stepped out of the box twice during Pedro's wind-up, he became the prime candidate. Great pitchers establish themselves early in the game, and thats what Pedro did. It wasn't unlike Clemens beaning Millar (up in the wrist area, Sheffield got it in the middle of the back) when the Red Sox blew out the Yankees the game bedore. Kevin Brown did the same thing (I think again it was Millar at the plate) in their last series against each other to pick up his team. It's part of the game.

As for the instance with Leskanic and Sheffield, I think that was Leskanic bailing out his manager. Franconca was too stupid to intentionally walk him, so Leskanic hit him instead. Either that or he was trying to back him off the plate to set him up for his breaking ball.

Exactly, say what you want about the Yankees just being a bunch of superstars, but they have been coming back all year, and it seems like every night it's someone else getting the big hit. This is something we haven't really seen in the last few years.

That's what IMO differentiates the Yankee teams of the last few years from the ones in their championship run. It seems like before, they would sign people like Giambi that put up great stats, but have proved to not be very clutch and haven't come up very big when they needed it. Before, they had players like Paul O' Neill, Scott Brosius and Tino Martinez who didn't put up Giambi like numbers, but always came through when they needed it. It seems like maybe this year, they are starting to get that "clutchness" back, and have been coming up with big hits and big outs when needed. This is definitely scary for every other team. Of course, you know, being a Sox fan, I hope they eventually fall off, but it doesn't seem like it's gonna happen.

What a game. That game shows what a TEAM is all about.Players like Cairo coming through for them and Flaherty batting 153 gets the winning RBI.
