I am impressed at how the Tigers were able to bounce back in that horrifying series vs. the Rockies and end up pulling even at 5-5 on this tough road trip leading into the All-Star Break. What's even more impressive is who they had to beat to do it. They were able to win a series at New York and at Minnesota to do it. And neither team was playing bad at the time they went up against the Tigers, so neither team can put out any excuses saying that they were in a slump prior to meeting Detroit. Very nice.
The Tigers are among the best hitting teams in the majors. Starting pitching is beginning to improve. They still makes too many fielding and throwing errors though. Hopefully this improves during the course of the rest of the season.
And it's so aggravating to see the team strugging to get to .500 mostly due to one thing -- the bullpen. The Tigers would be something like 7-8 games over .500 by now if it wasn't for the !@#$!# bullpen doing a horrible job holding on to leads. I can't even count how many games the bullpen has lost the Tigers. Franklyn German is being replaced by Wil Ledezma, which is good news. Something still has to be done with Al Levine though. Levine has not panned out at all. And the Tigers better not trade Ugueth Urbina. They currently have no one else on the roster who can be relied on to step up and close games out up if Urbina's gone.
