    Indeed!

I am impressed at how the Tigers were able to bounce back in that horrifying series vs. the Rockies and end up pulling even at 5-5 on this tough road trip leading into the All-Star Break. What's even more impressive is who they had to beat to do it. They were able to win a series at New York and at Minnesota to do it. And neither team was playing bad at the time they went up against the Tigers, so neither team can put out any excuses saying that they were in a slump prior to meeting Detroit. Very nice.

The Tigers are among the best hitting teams in the majors. Starting pitching is beginning to improve. They still makes too many fielding and throwing errors though. Hopefully this improves during the course of the rest of the season.

And it's so aggravating to see the team strugging to get to .500 mostly due to one thing -- the bullpen. The Tigers would be something like 7-8 games over .500 by now if it wasn't for the !@#$!# bullpen doing a horrible job holding on to leads. I can't even count how many games the bullpen has lost the Tigers. Franklyn German is being replaced by Wil Ledezma, which is good news. Something still has to be done with Al Levine though. Levine has not panned out at all. And the Tigers better not trade Ugueth Urbina. They currently have no one else on the roster who can be relied on to step up and close games out up if Urbina's gone.

Pudge didn't do this by himself. The addition of Guillen, Vina, and Rondell White has also improved the attitude in the locker room and really gave this team the boost they needed.

Many of the players from last year's squad have improved so much, and most of that is because of the confidence added by the veterans added in the offseason. Brandon Inge is having a great year, and Detroit has been contacted by many teams involving a trade for him.. although the Tigers really want to hold on to him. Munson has filled in nicely since Inge's injury, giving Tigers hope that the former high draft pick can perform up to his potential.

One major weakness Detroit has, as has been said before, is their bullpen. Even Urbina, who was supposed to shine in the dismal Tigers' bullpen, has let a couple of games slip. Hopefully, the starting pitching will continue to impress and improve, and the bullpen will become less of a factor in the second half..

            Go Tigers!

I think this is finally a team that is starting to play in the mold of their coaches. Tram, Gibby, and Lance are that era of baseball player where you come to the park to do what's asked of you. PERIOD.

Tiger's sign Pudge......Inge learns multiple new positions.
                  Inge gets hurt....Munson steps in.
Vina gets hurt....Infante learns 2nd Base and fills in WELL.
Sanchez gets banged up....Infante moves to Centerfield with NO experience.

They have a team full of people that are there to play. That's huge!

And I've got to give the Starting Pitching some love....

Jason Johnson: Started rough...really strong in his last few.
Nate Robertson: Rookie of the Year candidate
Jeremy Bonderman: Still learning, but has great composure through adversity for his age.
Mike Maroth: Gives the Tigers a quality start everytime out.

Go Tigers!!! These next 4 with the Yankees will be fun!
