I don't know how anyone can't say the Cardinals, unless your a hardcore Braves fan, in which you would say Atlanta either way. The Cardinals are totally running away from the rest of the NL at this point, and don't appear to be looking back. Especially considering that they are supposed to have more competition in their division, but the Cubs haven't been completely healthy in so long, and the Astros just can't put it together.

As of now, the Cards are the team to beat in the NL IMO.

If we're going by best players at positions: Cards have the best 3rd baseman (Rolen), one of the best, if not the best 1st basemen (Pujols), the best shortstop in the NL (Renteria), and sorry to burst your bubble, but Jim Edmonds is the best CF, not Jones.

Jones as the best CF is a joke heck the braves had him on the trading block.

I have a funny feeling that the Dodgers will surprise people and at least make it to the NLCS. They've been hot of late and they seem to be hitting the ball a lot better. Conventional wisdom, however sees the Cards as the team to beat right now.

Maybe Andruw Jones is at the top for defense, but he definitely is not right now offesnively. Beltran, Jim Edmonds, Steve Finley, Grissom in the NL have been better offensive CF this year, and you can name some in the AL as well. As far as Giles being the best 2b in the NL, Loretta, Vidro, Castillo are better. Braves will win the NL East, but unless Mike Hampton becomes Mike Hampton 1999, and Jaret Wright becoems Jaret Wright 1997, they aren't going anywhere in the playoffs. Playoffs?
