Jason Schmidt is underrated...he had a one hitter against the CUBS but that was overshadowed because it was the same day Randy Johnson threw the no hitter. He better win Cy Young.

I just wish he could've carried on to the postseason better..
I agree. He's right there with Roger Clemens, yet Clemens gets so much more attention. I guess strikeouts are sexier than groundouts.

And while his record isn't great, Maddux hasn't pitched that badly in the playoffs. About a 3.20 ERA. Unfortunately, the Braves bats always seem to fall asleep come October, so he rarely got any support.

And to the previous poster who mentioned Chipper as overrated. This is the worst season of his career. But he's a career .300 hitter with a .400+ on-base %. Last year he drove in over 100 runs for the 8th straight season, which tied the NL record. He's one of the best switch-hitters of all time.

          Re: MLBs most overrated/underrated player?

underrated pitcher- jason schmidt- should have been cy young last year ben sheets- not talked about at all johan santana- strikout machine 2nd best era in al but his team can't produce many runs for him brandon webb- Question: How is it possible for a player to have a 3.68 era, and only have 4 wins and 13. losses? Answer: He plays for the diamondbacks
overrated pitcher- pedro martinez- good but not as great as he used to be (or as good as he thinks he is for that matter), barry zito- same as pedro, cliff lee- has a 4.63 era

          overrated stat- wins and losses
          underrated stat- era

overrated batters- sammy sosa- strikes out waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much and he is either going to hit a homerun or not get a hit at all, shawn green- we've been waiting on him for about a year and half now, ken griffy jr.-he is always swinging for the fences which shows by his .250 batting average
underrated batters- melvin mora-bet you didn't no he his 4th in the league in batting average, and obp, adrian beltre-he's got 30 home runs and batting .317 playing with a bum ankle, mark lorreta- good batting average, j.d. drew- has 5th best obp

overrated stats- hr- i would rather have a player who gets on base and drives in runs and scores runs rather than a person who hacks for the fence all the time such as sosa, and griffy
underrated stats- obp- nothing wrong with getting on base
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.
