Re: 6/15 - 6/28 Game Discussion Thread
The Phillies took way too long to hit the reset button.
They didn't help themselves either with the Howard extension, which looked awful at the time and is now one of the worst contracts in sports history.I write things on the Internet.

Contracts isn't the real problem with the Phillies although the financial room would have helped it's god awful drafting. Historically bad drafting. Partly a regression to the mean after a really strong series of drafts in the late 90s and early 00s.
Over the past decade the Phillies have been the least successful team in drafting MLB talent. That is quite the reversal from the previous ten years, when they were arguably the best.

Like someone else said, they've been around since 83(1883 that is), 10000 losses, especially when playing 162 games a year, was bound to happen.
The part you should've said is how they are only team of all franchises who've been around since before 1900 to have franchise win% below .500.
This might be worst Phillies team of modern era,but not worst all time. Nowhere close. Phillies from 36-45 had 7 seasons of 100+ losses, and that's with 155 or so game schedules.
It could be worse, you could be a fan of the Arizona Cardinals franchise, or LA Clippers franchise lolComment

Apparently the Phillies had Jeff Francoeur throw 2 innings because their bullpen phone wasn't working?I write things on the Internet.

He walked three and gave up two runs in two innings. That's a setup guy for us.Comment

They could have partly mitigated their current disaster by acquiring a king's ransom for Cliff Lee before he blew out his arm.Last edited by Chip Douglass; 06-17-2015, 02:43 PM.I write things on the Internet.

Bryce Harper has a .502 wOBA entering today.
Now that he's decided to stop striking out, you basically have the perfect offensive player.I write things on the Internet.
