Well Edgar Martinez is our new hitting coach. One of the 30 best hitters of all time, things can only get better.

In other news Walker has a chance to K 15 today lol. But it wont matter because we wont score a run today. This team is way to predictable.

Wait this hasn't happened yet? I thought that happened last week. When they lost to Twins in that double header.

Wonder who Valbuena's steroid dealer is. Whoever it is he's working overtime.

Astros aren't going anywhere just face it. You can be smug all you want doesn't take away the fact they have an awful offense. All they do is hit HR's and strikeout. Similar to the Mariners last year, now look at them they're a dumpster fire. Our season this year will be the Astros season next year, if not sooner, enjoy.

I'm enjoying my "90-loss season". Are you enjoying yours?

If you think the Astros are going away next year, or anytime soon, you're only fooling yourself.

Of course, everyone here knows that everything you say is full of foolish.

So you have no argument so you resort to personal attacks no matter how wrong you are? Astros have some young players with potential. But they strike out way too much don't get on base enough and I don't see their pitching holding up. Springer, Altuve, and Correa is a nice core, but you need more.

I guess it wouldn't be a game thread without a Mariners/Astros spat...who'd have thought that would be a theme in 2015?

Strikeout a ton, hit a ton of HRs, and ride a really good bullpen is exactly what the 2006-8 Phillies did. This Astros team is probably closer to the '06 team than the '08 team because of the lack of an ace pitcher, but seriously you are majorly underselling the Astros. I'd be shocked at this point if they finish under .500, 83-87 wins and a wildcard is not unreasonable.

If the Astros make the playoffs, I'll be the 1st to S admit I was wrong about them. But they need to start hitting better striking out less and getting on base more. Solo homeruns wont beat you, 3 run shots will.

I hate to get all Brian Kenny on you but it seems this is the generation where teams that lead in the Three True Outcomes (walk, strikeout, HR) are having the most success. The Pirates the last few seasons have been up there as well as the Astros. The 'Stros problem the last couple seasons have been the bullpen and they've addressed this. So while it flies in the face of what makes for a successful team they can ride this to at least a playoff spot.

It's only when these TTO teams make the playoffs that they get exposed. The Braves a few years ago had that issue and the Pirates haven't made it very far either.

I read recently that 4 teams in history led the Majors in homers and strikeouts. Two of them, a Yankees team from the 50s or 60s and the 1976 Reds, won the World Series.

Whether Houston makes the playoffs or not is beside the point. They have arrived a year early. You better get used to Houston being a force, they aren't going away.

And, no, what I said was not a personal attack - it was fact. You say you could get the Mariners to the World Series in a year or two. How do expect people to react to that? My impression is that you're either mentally challenged, delusional or in Junior High. Seriously.
