What a win for the Braves! Teheran finally put together a great performance and the Braves are back to .500 with Washington coming to town.

I don't know how to feel about the Braves. I want to get excited and think they'll be fighting for a wildcard spot in September, but every time they get to .500, they lose 5 of the next 7.

Matt Garza's claim to fame after today: First pitcher to give up 10+ runs twice in the same season since Brandon Backe in 2008.

That's all true. But when you're throwing out comments like you would win a Championship if you were the GM, you're just asking for criticism. Some humility would do you well.

Or you can keep doing what you're doing, and it's likely that I will, too.

I'm a Dodgers fan, but jeez, Lincecum's decline has been brutal to watch.

It wasn't too long ago (2011?) that he was still an ace that people name-dropped in "best pitcher in baseball" conversations. Now he's a replacement-level pitcher who routinely throws batting practice. Pitchers are maddening.

              He was The Freak.

I wonder if as he aged his body just wasn't able to keep up with those mechanics.

We swept three games started by deGrom, Syndergaard, and Harvey. I wouldn't have believed you if you told me this on Friday morning.

And Teheran finally did something worth a ****. Hopefully he's figured something out and can get back to being what he should be.

What a surprise Cameron Maybin has been. Really enjoying his productive play.

Now watch us blow the Nationals series.

He had quite a bit of mileage on his arm before he was even drafted because of his heavy workloads in college. The mechanics, in conjunction with his small frame, might explain it, but we're not really far enough along in pitching biomechanics to know for certain.

I mean, just looking at his RA/9 WARs from 2008 to now:

                  7.5
                  7.5
                  4.1
                  5.0
                  -0.8
                  0.1
                  -0.7
                  0.6

It's pretty remarkable how quickly he fell off the cliff. He went from ace to replacement level in a year.

I don't know about all the other statistics and all that but he's gotta be a HOFer though still even with the dropoff, right? Arguably the best pitcher in the league for a stretch, 3 World Series, 2 Cy Youngs, 2 no-hitters, crazy popular in his city, unique and memorable pitching style and look.

Plus, as an aside, I'll never forget how he plunged the Braves' *******s in Game 1 of the 2010 NLDS. SMH.

The peak was way too short to offset the lack of longevity.

I've been trying to come up with a comparison of a player who fell off the cliff as quickly as Lincecum, but most of the other guys who come to mind were either derailed by injures or got too old. The closest comparison is Andruw Jones, but the decline wasn't as abrupt and it didn't happen until Jones turned 30.

Lincecum just stopped being a good player after age 27.

Justin Turner entering today: 176 wRC+, 2.7 WAR.

Was totally expecting regression to the mean after he put up a .400 BABIP last year (and the BABIP regression did happen), but he compensated by becoming a legit power hitter.

                        The guy is incredible.

                            How about Dontrelle Willis?

Could be another case where he outgrew his mechanics.

What happened to 2010 Heyward? This version ain't even close...

5.6% walk percentage and 2 BBS last 65 PAs.

Pitchers have learned he isn't a threat if you throw on the outside 3rd of the plate. I don't have any stats I've looked up, but based on watching him as a Bravo, outside edge will get him out 90% of the time.
