Well this is the right final pairing. Frazier and Pederson have been the most impressive in addition to winning their pairings.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2015 All Star Break Thread
It's impossible to hit a baseball with any kind of power with your hands below the ball unless the pitch is above your hands to start. I can guarantee Bryant doesn't hit the ball with his hands below the ball.
Spoiler
Again, his swing plane is going to be more of a loop because of his height. Any pitch at his knees, he has to drop the barrel lower than the typical player because it's farther from his level swing plane. I'm guessing that's part of the reason for his very wide stance.. to try to lower his hips and hands a bit.
Doesn't matter how tall or short you are, because your hands should always be above a ball you're swinging at so you're always swinging down at the ball. The difference is Bryant begins coming upward before contact, hence my "uppercut" point.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: 2015 All Star Break Thread
Gosh.
I thought Todd Frazier wore #17 and was wearing #21 to honor Sean Casey today. I need to shore up my roster skills more on The Show.

I love this format; only thing I'd change is make it machine pitch to remove the remaining variable. Think of the long balls we could see then.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: 2015 All Star Break Thread
"Hands below the ball" is more of a figure of speech than anything else, but I don't mean that he makes contact with his hands below the ball. That's impossible. I was referring to his swing path. Ideally, you want you make contact at the bottom of your bat's path (plane landing), then go upward from there (plane taking off).
Doesn't matter how tall or short you are, because your hands should always be above a ball you're swinging at so you're always swinging down at the ball. The difference is Bryant begins coming upward before contact, hence my "uppercut" point.
Also, think about it.. if the ball is coming at you on a downward plane, why would you also want to be on a downward plane to meet it? That makes the possible points of contact very small. The barrel needs to get on the same plane as the ball, which means it needs to be on a slightly upward plane. That allows the barrel to remain in the path of the ball for the longest amount of time.
Watch slo-mo video of the best hitters.. their bat path is slightly upward going into contact. If they're hitting the ball at the bottom of their swing plane, they're late on the ball.
The bat path should look a lot like the Nike swoosh.
Just for some video evidence of what I'm talking about. These guys all make contact while extending through, not at the bottom of their swing plane. They even show Bryce Harper making contact deep into his swing, and he's late and pops up foul.

I think Pujols' son has Down's Syndrome as well. He did a lot of charity work in St. Louis with Down's Syndrome, so I'm sure he has a special place in his heart for those with the disease. He's really been great for the game in his career.Comment
