    You and me both...

    23-4
    213.1 IP
    29 GS
    2.07 ERA
    1.39 FIP
    42 ERA-
    30 FIP-
    0.92 WHIP
    .203 BAA
    13.20 K/9 (313 K's)
    1.56 BB/9 (37 BB's)
    8.46 K:BB
    0.38 HR/9 (9 HR's)
    11.7 fWAR

The thing that makes me giggle like a little schoolgirl after seeing these outrageous numbers is that batters were actually a little bit lucky that season with a .323 BABIP off Pedro, which was above the league average .302 mark and well above his career .279 mark. Imagine '99 if it had been Pedro with 20 or 30 points of BABIP "luck"...

Anyone remember who was Pedro's 1 intentional BB that year?

I had to look it up.

Hint: It wasn't Bonds, but it was an NL player.

Strictly guessing, but Chipper? That was his MVP year.

I took the Indians on MLB in 99. I remember Pedro destroying me in the Division Series; I couldn't touch him. So his virtual self was pretty good too.

        Edit: Nope, not Chipper.

1.39 FIP when the average AL FIP in 1999 was 4.80. The next closest guy that year was Randy Johnson at 2.76 facing the pitcher every 9th batter. Lowest FIP of the liveball era (1920-present), before you do any adjustments for league, era, and park. If you sort FanGraphs' leaderboards by FIP, it's Pedro bunched together with pitchers from the 19th and early 20th century.

He threw 17 shutout innings against the 1,000+ run Indians and dynasty Yankees in the playoffs as well.

I hope Ivan Rodriguez really cherishes his MVP trophy.

Bonds and Chipper are great guesses, but we are looking for a right-handed hitter...

Vlad the impaler...I saw Pedro pitch in person in 1999 and 2000. Incredible...I watched him strike out 17 and lose 1-0. Nothing like being in Fenway when Pedro pitched.

And the Expos impaled the Red Sox that day 13-1 I believe with Pedro giving up 4 of those from what I remember when looking up the game earlier today.

For fun, although if a bit off topic,

Vlad hit 42 HRs that season, slugged .600, and only struck out at a 9.2% clip. Not bad for a guy swinging from the heels. One of the best hand-eye coordination guys the game has ever seen.

Funner fact, and a bit more on topic, former Brewer legends John Jaha and B.J. Surhoff (although Jaha was repping the A's and Surhoff the O's) both participated in the HR derby in '99 scratching out a combined 3 dingers. Great times were had.

I know he doesn't mean anything by it but I would prefer if the Futures Game announcer didn't refer to each player as "the property of X team".

I like it because that way you know what guys are on your favorite team.

Of course the announcer should let us know to which organization they play for, that's one of the most important things this Future Game is about. My problem is with the phrase "property of".

Yea I can see why that is a problem but try viewing as trade assets or something like that.

                            HRD tonight!

Too bad we can't watch past HRDs from 15-20+ years ago. I wanna check out some of those older ones, but it's basically impossible to find it. Sucks it isn't up anywhere, cause NBA dunk contest for example, you can watch every dunk contest that's happened, all on youtube and stuff. And even NBATV airs past dunk contests in its entirety(or just 1hr recap). MLB should do this too!

I wonder if the Home Run Derby will actually happen. I wonder if those storms are coming earlier today or later.

Supposed to end around 8-9pm, so they'll prob just delay it or something.

I've always wondered what'd happen if it does rain during all star game. Will they just cancel the game completely, since there's no day it can be made up? Have to give back all that money from ticket sales and everything
