Great an owner who is shifting blame. You are the damn owner, no one can fire you, grow some balls and accept responsibility.

Who do the Mets have that other clubs would want? Leiter and Glavine are over 30 and dont have that many good years left. Piazza is old, can't play first base at the major league level, and has a bad arm behind the plate. The only hope is that some AL club would want him as an C/DH for the rest of his career. Floyd would have some value as a DH for some club, but his injury history isnt in the Mets favor.

The Mets are probably stuck with Leiter and Glavine at least untill next july. I think there is a good chance that Mike Piazza winds up in Baltimore next season.
What the Mets need to do is trade Piazza and Floyd, ship Jason Phillips far, far away, move Matsui to 2B and Reyes back to SS, keep Richard Hidalgo because if they would not shell out the cash for Guerrero who really thinks they will do it for Magglio Ordonez and ask Kansas City really nicely to give Justin Huber back.
Pitching wise, they can let Benson go, as he has not done anything for them anyway, stop signing the James Baldwins and Scott Ericksons of the world (they would have done better to sign his wife, more people would have come to the games!), give John Franco some B.S. instructors position so he thinks he's still part of the team and finally, most importantly FIRE anyone with the last name Duquette!!!!.
No good has ever come with having a General Manager from that family.

Scratch Lou Pinella off the list of possible replacements for Howe, he announced to the media before last nights game against the Royals that he is staying with the Devil Rays. Pinella is signed thru 2006 and plans on managing the team until his contract is up, also the Devil Rays offered the rest of their coaching staff 2 year contract extensions which will take them thru 2006. I hope this means that the Mets will consider giving Don Baylor a shot.
