ESPN said he was "yelling at Alex Rodriguez". I assumed they meant heckling. Dunno.

Lester has to be better...you're paying him to be an ace and aces stop these losing streaks. It wasn't like he was up against Kershaw...Latos vs Lester is one the Cubs have to win.

I count 4? Didn't we win the first game of the Giants' series?

            Yes...Cubs came in on a 2 game losing streak, so it's 4.

The FS1 broadcasters for the NYY-ATL game made mention of the accident for a few seconds as it happened, and didn't seem to really acknowledge it again. Maybe producers whispered in their ear to not draw any more attention to it?

This is what I found odd about the whole thing, for a second they were all "Oh my god, oh my god", and then not a mention about it aside from "he's being tended to" after the commercial break, all while the game was still going. And now the guy is dead? Sad.

                  Sad? Or stupid?

A man in his 60s acting like that? Maybe I'm a calloused ***hole but, at some point, grow up. And no, I don't care if he was cheering for or heckling Rodriguez. Calm down and be an adult. You're 60-something.

Whether he was acting like an idiot or not it's still sad.

The tough guy act though is a poor look for you....

What about the dad in Texas a few years ago trying to get a thrown ball from Josh Hamilton?

Simon pitching for tigers today. In 4 of last 5 starts,he's given up 4+ runs in each. The 1 good game...CG 1 hitter vs rangers.

Either way,its another sold out crowd for jays! I think their 7th straight or something which is great to see! Hasn't been seen i dont think in 20+ years

Maybe he was a bit intoxicated. Maybe foul play was involved and he had a light shove from behind. Maybe he tripped over his own shoelace, or slipped on an ice cube. Maybe there was a snake running down his pants. The point is it could have been a whole number of things, but in the end I don't believe it was a suicide, thus it is still saddening that his life was interrupted and ended by this fall.

There are always safety concerns at a ballpark when the rails aren't quite large enough for these accidents to have been prevented. I hope this doesn't spawn a new set of articles for them to increase the heights of those rails because of this incident (if you know me, it's not because of the lack of safety concerns, it's because if implemented it was one death too late and should not be a knee-jerk reaction ever, but it's still quite hazardous and something we should be careful with.

I hope he wasn't there with any family. That would be traumatizing enough to see that happen. Apparently, witness accounts there who were in the lower deck are going to be haunted by the sound of his screaming as he went down. Yes, it is very sad indeed.

                            http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/...g_yankees.html

A fan, who didn't want to be named, in section 401, told NJ Advance Media the victim was apparently drunk and was screaming at the Yankees when A-Rod came to bat. The fan said the victim flew over her and her two sisters from a row behind her and barely touched them as he went.

The man was in the second row of section 401. It was almost as if he jumped, she said.

She said the victim had been acting belligerently drunk all game. There was still a large wet stain on the railing in section 401 from what she said was his drink. The fans in the area soon left their seats with security, and several rows from the section were cleared out.

I understand you're point, but we're talking about someone who didn't just get hurt.... he died. The little that I've come across, he was a passionate Braves season ticket holder. And if he was 60 years old, one can assume a long time season ticket holder. And we know how passionate some people can get about their team in any sport (ya know....like Steelers fans). Giving backward advice at a point like this is a poor gesture and useless. Some consideration has to be given to the structural surroundings that helped lead to this horrible incident. One doesn't get ready to go to a ball game and while there enter into a situation where you run the risk of death.
