Arrieta sneaking into the Cy Young race? If Greinke's ERA catches up with his FIP a bit, maybeChicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Jake has been awesome this year. He has figured it out. Maddon always says that we still haven't seen the best from Arrieta and looks like he's right. The dude is a machine and his curve is nasty. Of course the time I saw him pitch live was his last loss against Hamels.
Also, there is no doubt who'll pitch a possible playoff game. Lester came in to be the ace but it looks like Jake has taken that spot."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Fantastic random stat about Arrieta's night.
He's the first Jake or Jacob to throw a no-hitter in MLB historyComment

Re: 8/17 - 8/30 Game Discussion Thread
lol but seriously, hope people can even slightly understand where some fans are coming from. It's basically 20+ years of disappointments for the franchise, no playoff appearance since their last WS, so at a time like now, where it's the first time since their WS season, that they're in such a good playoff position, people are basically just letting out all the excitement they've been holding in the past 20+ years regarding the Jays(and basically Toronto sports in general since as people know, the Leafs suck and Raptors can't get past 1st round)
The types of posts/excitement from Jays fans would be more annoying if it's from a fanbase who makes playoffs most of the time, but like I said, for a fanbase who rarely sees something like this,it's basically all just coming out at once. An entire generation of fans never once even seeing a Jays playoff game(and basically anyone under the age of 30,even if they were alive back then, prob don't remember anything from back then),now seeing the team the closest they've been to that in over 20 years. One of longest playoff droughts in sports history.
If Cubs fans are like this next time Cubs are in the World Series, I won't be annoyed at all, cause I'd understand exactly why they're so excited for it(it's not entirely comparable, but I think Leafs have 2nd longest championship drought next to the Cubs in sports history? So I can somewhat relate to Cubs fans in that regard)Last edited by Majingir; 08-30-2015, 11:15 PM.Comment

I agree 1000%. It's like the bandwagon Red Sox fans from a decade ago, but more Canadian. Makes it a complete turnoff. Not saying these guys posting here are bandwagon Jays fans at all, but this whole thing has that same feeling where sympathy from other fan bases turns to animosity quickly.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Dominant start by Arrieta last night, but I'm pretty sure that hot shot Castro missed was a hit, it was iffy.Comment

Exactly. A more accurate statement would be to say "if Cubs fans are like this the next time the Cubs have a good August".
Because as of this post, that is ALL the Jays have done.Last edited by TripleCrown9; 08-31-2015, 08:23 AM.Boston Red Sox

Looking past that though I do agree with the general tenor of some of the people complaining here. I don't know how old Majingir is but sometimes his posts even make me cringe a little. It's fine to show enthusiasm but it goes a little overboard when you're throwing up gifs and memes all the time. That being said, i've done that a few times but I realize that the Jays fanbase on here can be a bit grating and i'm trying to bottle my enthusiasm a bit. (no promises if the Jays clinch the division though LOL) As i've said before it's going to be a dog fight for the division between the Jays and Yanks and it's a really exciting time to be a Blue Jays fan these days.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
