There's a reason teams all schedule their cross country trips together rather than play in LA one series, come East and play a home series and then fly back to San Fran.

These players aren't placed in coach or business class on a passenger plane. They are on a charter jet...no way it takes 5 hours to get from LA to NY for an MLB team.

EDIT: I'm usually good with 5 HRs of sleep but I get your point. I think the entire postseason lasts too long. It's a month between the WC game and game 7 of a WS. Maybe my beef is more with shortening the regular season to 154 and starting the playoffs sooner.

In air? No. In air time is the same as any other plane but they don't have to worry about security lines or any of that. I'm very aware they take a charter.

5 hours from the time the game ends until the time they get to their hotel room however is probably generous. It's like you think the 9th inning ends and they are immediately on a plane and on their way.

If your main beef is shortening the season there are better ways to do it than screwing around in the most important games of the year.

          I stand corrected.

I thought for certain jets travel much faster than the commercial flights. I read just now that Miami leased a Boeing 767 for this year but the jet that travels at a cruising speed of 530mph...same as normal (but with obvoius ammended luxury fittings inside).

Inside the park grand slam by Aaron Altherr!! Phils up 4-1 on the Nationals.

First Phillies inside the park grand slam since 1956.

So...Braves pitching. 5th inning isn't done and they've given up 12 runs on 19 hits. Yikes...

C-Mart leaves Cards-Brewers after 7 pitches with a bum shoulder. Uh oh. No Waino and no Martinez could make the Cards quite vulnerable in a short series.

That's got to be the biggest lowlight of the season for the Braves.

They actually should have won...lost 12-11 and had bases loaded with 1-out in the 8th, but failed to get a run.

Have the Dodgers switched to a 6-man rotation? Or are they just trying to stack their rotation for the playoffs? It seems like it should've been Greinke's turn to start tonight otherwise. The last 5 SPs have been Anderson, Wood, Frias, Kershaw, and Bolsinger.

By the way, it's absolutely insane that the NL Cy Young might come down to the very last start for Greinke, Kershaw, and Arrieta. I don't really think there's any clarity right now in that race although if I had to guess the result, it would be: 1. Arrieta 2. Greinke 3. Kershaw. Kershaw, despite leading in FIP-based WAR, is far enough behind in wins and ERA that I can't see him overcoming the traditional stat bias.
