Jerk = Pujols. At least Bonds has the dignity to not show up pitcher's (See Peavy and home run 700) or admire everything he hits (even if it's a fly ball, foul, or a ground out). Oh yeah, and would a jerk go by the pitcher after getting forced out at second after a play and give him a pat in the back congratulating him?

My question is, can you provide any evidence suggesting that he is?

                All I've ever heard is:

                1. His teammates don't like him (and this is reported by the media...never an actual teammate)

                2. He doesn't like the media (and this is reported by the media).

Now, understand what I mean by reported by the media. Obviously, the media will report every single bit of news, but the negativity surrounding Bonds has always been media driven. It isn't something that was relayed to the media by a player, fan, owner, manager, etc. It's just always been accepted that Bonds is a jerk.

Now, is he a racist? That's a different story. I don't want to get into that, but I would have a hard time convincing someone that he isn't racist (based on his comments on Babe Ruth and Boston). But a jerk just because? I haven't seen any evidence of jerk-like behavior.

Yup. Compared to what Ruth, Cobb, Mantle, etc have been like, Bonds is an angel. So what, he doesnt like the media.....who does? If I was in the sport I wouldnt be receptive to the media when theyre all in my face and on my *** about eating pizza instead of a salad (or something trivial like that).

Bonds might be my favorite player not on the Braves and not named Maddux.

I never known one person from San Francisco or around here that thinks he's a jerk because we see the real Bonds. Everybody else is just listening to what the media tells them when they dont see him as how we see him. How in the heck world do you know he;s self centered...what has he done that makes you think he is self centered and believes the world revolves around him. He made it clear to the media and the fans that he does not want to break Aarons record and no matter what happens he says that he always wants the fans to know that Aaron was the best there was. I dont see how that is selfish at all. He is a caring guy, i know because i've lived in SF my whole life and watch this guy for the last 10 years. He's not a jerk.

Well, I know he's not a nice guy...

I was watching batting practice and a few kids were asking for his autograph. They said please and didn't sound whiney at all. Well Bonds comes up and says in his exact words to them "You guys whine like my kids. I have to go to work, I don't have time for you." The kids were speechless and one adult yelled out "Baseball isn't work" and he just shrugged it off and waived his hand like whatever.

Yeah, that's the kind of person I want my kids to look up to.

I do agree though, he is one of the best. If there is anything I would want my kids to learn from him is to play baseball and have the personality like Trevor Hoffman or Cal Ripken Jr have shown.

Re: call him a jerk and a jackass

I don't think Bonds is a jerk or jackass, I think the media makes him out to be a bad guy for some reason or another. However, I do hate the fact that there is a good chance he used steroids, along with many others. If you look at the back of a Bonds' baseball cards his home runs since 1993 are as follows:

                                46
                                37
                                33
                                42
                                40
                                37
                                34
                                49
                                73
                                46
                                45

I mean, you don't from a career high of 49 to 73! I'm sorry but the evidence stacks up especially when you look at his stolen bases, and I know you don't steal as many bases as you get older but you also don't blast 20+ more home runs randomly in one season...and not to mention all the crap with BALCO.
