Hopefully this doesn't turn into your version of the Vernon Wells contract.
A lot of the money is deferred. From Buster Olney:

Chris Davis contract structure: $17m annual salary 2016-2022. Annual payments $3.5m 2023-32, then $1.4m 2033-37. No interest on deferrals.

I actually really like the deal with that structure.

Wow. That is... crazy. But good on Davis & his agent for getting that deal.

The interest-free deferral is a bit odd. Good for the O's though.

I can't believe teams would still do a Bonilla style contract like that but good on Davis and Boras.

                        We'd bat around continuously.

Peter Gammons is saying the Astros might be the sleeper team for Yoenis Cespedes. 10 teams are in on him and he may sign within the next week or so.

Oakland should go after him. He loved playing there and they're trying to build a more marketable team (by their standards) to get that new stadium built.

When was the last time they paid a guy over $100M?

I don't see how Oakland goes after him. The offer rumored for Cespedes at the moment is 90M for 5 years, that's 18M a year. That seems like too much cash for the A's for a guy already 30 years old.

As for the 'stros, they seem to have a full outfield already. Would have to move an OF.
