And just like that, Upton to Detroit, 6 year deal, pending the physical.

Looks like there is an opt out after 2 years; Upton could hit the market again at age 30, which is how old Cespedes is right now. Upton doesn't have Cespedes' laser arm, but he walks twice as much and has more consistent offensive production throughout his career. Tigers have always liked Upton; they tried to trade for him when the D'backs were shopping him, but lacked the ammo to get the deal done.

At the end of the day, mission accomplished. The Tigers filled these holes:

            -A front end starter
-An innings eater to compete with Greene/Boyd
            -A closer
            -A setup man
            -A lefty reliever
-A fourth outfielder/platoon guy for Gose
            -A Veteran backup catcher
            -A starting LF

I don't remember DD ever filling all of the holes; he always left a few open to be filled in training camp or at the deadline.

A long term extension with JD Martinez would be gravy at this point.

Hmmmmm.....did Cespedes just become more valuable(to himself) or a bigger value(for a team)?

Yea they've had an awesome Offseason... Easily a top contender in the AL, if not the top.

Gotta admire the job the Detroit front office is doing this offseason. They're definitely going to be in the conversation for a playoff spot for sure.

I kind of expect the White Sox to respond by signing Cespedes.

Good for Upton and the Tigers. Just make sure his worthless sack of **** brother doesn't come along too at some point.

This deal still boggles the mind. I have to believe Beane dealt him simply because Donaldson had called him out during the offseason.

Really like the Upton deal. Being on the same club as great hitters such as Miggy and V-Mart I think his hitting will get to another level.

Really excited for this season to start. The AL Central is going to be ridiculously competitive, but it should be a lot of fun to watch how it all plays out.
