Reports are now coming out saying Jose Fernandez and the Marlins hate each other. He is probably going to be traded at the Winter Meetings in 2 weeks. I'd be surprised if he's with the Marlins by the start of Spring Training.

I don't know why the Yankees would deal Gardner, but if they're shopping him, I hope the Tigers are in on him. He'd be a good fit in left and leading off.Comment

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
They are dealing him because they acquired Aaron Hicks from the Twins last week. They like Hicks and want him to play everyday. They can't get rid of Beltran or Ellsbury and Gardner will get them a decent return.Comment

In a*separate report, team sources told Slater that Fernandez has a tendency to be “selfish” at times and “talks to management like they are children.”
“There were times this season where, not all, but some players and coaches hoped Jose would go out on the mound and get shelled,” a player source reportedly told Slater. “We thought it would get him to be more humble.”

Wow...That stuff about Hernandez is pretty damning. Last night the guys on MLB-N were joking about how he said jokingly to management "when are you going to trade me?" Now it looks like there's actually some fire along with the smoke. You'd think a guy who's having a history of injuries would be a little more humble but....I guess not.

Yankees are now telling teams they want pitching in return for Brett Gardner.
Chase Whitley was claimed off waivers by the Rays today as well.

Re: 2015 MLB Hot Stove thread
At this point, I'm pretty sure I'm going to be disappointed in the offseason.
I want Heyward in CF. I don't care about his "disappointing" power numbers. His defense in center will go a long way to covering up for the less-than-stellar corner OFers. If he wasn't so tall and big, no one would expect those power numbers and would laud him for his consistent hitting. Perfect 6 hole guy in the NL.
I want a reliable bullpen.
I really don't want the Cubs to throw all the money at Price they'd have to in order to sign him. The entire ship could be sunk by his and Lester's contracts.
I could be ok with parting ways with Soler, Baez, or nearly any of our top 10 prospects (or even Castro) for pitchingLast edited by fugazi; 11-20-2015, 02:22 PM.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Note: saw this in a forum....
3 way discussed on MLB network
Yanks get Castro
Cubs get Carrasco
Indians get Gardner/prospects
This would be better. Truth be told, I want to hold onto Castro. I think the team is set up for him to succeed now, lots of support for him. I don't the late resurgence was a flash in the pan. He doesn't get hurt often.
Soler, on the other hand, despite his potential has big question marks...among them being durability and whether his age is accurate.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Gee Andy....Saying that on the radio isn't really "just between you and I". I'm sure the LA media at the very least are making a big deal over this.Comment
