Apparently the Cubs and Braves have had trade talks involving ATL's controllable major league pitchers Shelby Miller and Julio Teheran.

Per sources, #Cubs doing background work on a dozen or so starting pitchers. #Braves believed to want young position players for Miller.

Then it makes no sense it all.

Thank goodness the rumor didn't have any legs.

Coppollellellella really likes to go #2 on Braves fans, doesn't he? Haven't seen a GM talk out both sides of his mouth like this

It's like he thinks this is literally a video game...he's trading to trade at this point.

Maybin for a RP that had a near 6 ERA and another relief pitcher that's in A-ball.

3 way discussed on MLB network

                  Yanks get Castro

                  Cubs get Carrasco

                  Indians get Gardner/prospects

This would be better. Truth be told, I want to hold onto Castro. I think the team is set up for him to succeed now, lots of support for him. I don't the late resurgence was a flash in the pan. He doesn't get hurt often.

Soler, on the other hand, despite his potential has big question marks...among them being durability and whether his age is accurate.
Oh my goodness. Castro for Carrasco would be highway robbery.

Is Castro even that good anymore at this point? Two of his last 3 years have been over 20% below league average offensively and he's not a great defender. His projections are decidedly mediocre. If Gardner could play CF, I'd probably make that deal. Carrasco would be a whole other story.

If the prospects are coming from the Cubs, fine, if not, keep Castro.

I'm assuming the Cubs would have to give up more than just Castro, and that is the "prospects" part of the trade.

if his Adjustments stick I think he is and his defensive concerns aren't that much of a concern at 2B but that's the big if with Castro. But any Cubs/Indians talk probably centers around Soler and that probably wouldn't be enough.

I'd think Schwarber would be the main piece in a Carrasco deal. Or Addy Russell.

Carrasco's such a valuable piece, ugh. Legit ace locked up for next to nothing long term.

I can't see the organization trading Russell. Schwarber, maybe

According to Rosenthal the Jays have traded reliever Liam Hendriks to the A's for Jesse Chavez. I expect Chavez to be used in middle relief at least to start the year but if the rotation looks dire he could end up being the #5.

I know quite a few teams had been eyeballing Chavez. There's always been a question of his stamina because he's so small but his versatility of bouncing between rotation and pen without skipping a beat has been tremendous.
