Do you remember the Pete Harnisch episode? I dont know if it was Harnisch or Valentine but I remember V calling into the radio station which made him seem guilty.

Peter Gammons seems to think the Mets will lure Lou Piniella (sp) to the Mets. That would be an interesting hire as Lou would have enough sway to get Wilpon to stay out of his business. Lou also has also managed in NY before so it's not like he's a stranger to the media spotlight.

Wow that would be something. It would be extremely difficult to do better than Lou Pinella.

Outside of getting Dusty (who I don't really respect as a "game" manager, but players certainly do love playing for him), I think Piniella is the best choice. I think Bobby V. would go back in a heartbeat, but I can't see the Wilpons admitting that mistake.

Lou told the Tampa media recently that he plans on staying with the Devil Rays until his contract ends in 2006, the team has also offered contract extensions to the rest of the coaching staff that will run thru 2006, so i don't think we will see Lou managing the Mets next season. as i have said before i would like to see the Mets give Don Baylor a shot at managing.

Highly doubt Lou's coming to NY. Although in the ESPN article covering this, they mentioned there was a chance that Bobby V would come back, highlighting his problems with Steve Phillips.
