Originally posted by Rag3vsW0rldI'm not sure about why we released Witasick, he made a decent long relief innings eater guy, but KT finally got it right by releasing Ricky Stone, Steve Watkins, and Kerry Robinson.Comment

Re: Applause to the Padres
He probably will, but Long, Payton, and Klesko have little or no trade value, unless there's a team that desperately needs an OF/1B/DH. The only person with trade value is Nevin. KT said he's looking to move a regular in the offseason... might be Burroughs, might be Klesko or Nevin... heck there might be a package that will include someone else that we wouldn't expect just to clear up some payroll.Comment

2005 Schedule
The Padres 2005 schedule was recently printed in the Union-Tribune and I couldn't help notice a few things. We start off at Colorado for a two game series... yes, with a dayoff in between the two, then they head off home to face the Pirates for four games (should be a fun one). Also, how many times do we face Seattle a year (including ST)? like 25 times or something? We've got a home and home series against them in mid-May and mid-June... I'm still trying to find out how we're regional rivals.Comment

Re: 2005 schedule
Yeah, but it's just weird having to face them as many times as the our division rivals (that is including ST). Not to mention the two teams are like drinking buddies when it comes to trades. BTW, I'm guessing the Baltimore/Atlanta thing will change because of the Expos, just my guess.
Hopefully the Mariners will still suck.Comment

Re: Trade
The Padres traded OF Terrance Long and SP Dennis Tankersley to the Royals for SP Darrell May and a RP.
Well, there's one player's salary dumped. I won't miss Tankersley, it looked like he could never get it together. I'm surprised a team actually took him, best of luck to him.Comment
