And he actually had a good offensive and defensive year this season. He was batting about .190 near the end of May, and he finished the year over .290. Not a bad recovery. I'll take him over any other SS in the league. We can agree to disagree though.

Re: Yankees-Twins ALDS Thread
I'll take him over MANY players, not just shortstops. If I have to choose one player for a winning team, I wouldnt argue against choosing Derek Jeter. You cant argue with the championships, poise, and intangibles the guy has.Comment

Another question, why was Kubel even in the lineup? What has he even done to start over Lew Ford? Sure, Kubel hit well for a month at the end of the season, but Lew Ford has been hitting well the entire season?Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I would. Jeter's a good player but he's nothing without his supporting cast. If I'm taking just one player to start a team with I'm looking at several other players before I begin to look at Jeter.Comment

Re: Yankees-Twins ALDS Thread
hes probably the second best ss in the league behind tejada. This guy can hit for average pretty well, plus he can steal bases, hit about 25 hrs, and get about 80 rbi's. Not bad for the #2. Last year he was second in the league in batting average, and this year he raised his batting average a ton. Also i read somewhere ( i think espn) that jeter has a ton of power, but he just likes hitting line drives (don't ask me why?). They were comparing him to how barry bonds was early in his career, and that if he had a bit more plate discipline and swung for the fences more that he could hit more homeruns.Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.Comment

Re: Yankees-Twins ALDS Thread
I think you misunderstood my point......what I was trying to get across is the fact that if there is one person that'd I'd choose first to have the winning attitude and winning presence of mind and all the intangibles.......Jeter would be #1. The guy would get you the rings. Of course I wasnt talking about just on field skillls, because anyone who wouldnt choose Bonds or Pujols would be committed.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 10-07-2004, 11:16 PM.Comment
