5-1 now. What a horrible pitch by Vazquez on the 2 run double. 0-2 count, and he leaves it down the middle.

Yankees are in a lot of trouble.

Odd decision to pull Santana there. I thought they'd let him go 6 maybe 7 innings on 3 days rest (assuming he pitched well those 6-7 innings).

This might really tire out some of the bullpen guys if there's a Game 5.

Wow, can't believe they took him out.

Twins have a good bullpen though, so as long as they get it to Rincon and Nathan, they should be ok. Looks like Loazia could be coming in for the Yankees. Hopefully it doesn't get out of hand.

I think one reason for taking out Santana so early is if they need him to bail out the starter/bullpen in game 5 a la Randy Johnson in '01.

Jets - Yeah I also like the guy they got in there now (Balfour). I don't see much of the Twins but this guy has looked good in the playoffs so far. Rincon and Nathan have looked real good as well.

I can't see Nathan going more than 1 IP so I guess Balfour goes 6-7, Rincon 8 and Nathan 9. I still question pulling Santana there because I wonder how tired the bullpen will be for tomorrow (if there is a game). However, since I'm not familar with the Twins, I might be missing something.

I also thought about that when they yanked him, but the announcers seemed certain he wouldn't be able to come back tomorrow. At least Steve Lyons thought that.

I assume he could go 1, maybe 2 at the most tomorrow. He only threw 87 pitches, but those were 87 on only 3 days rest. I guess we'll have to see.

Well that was a quick change. 5-5. Anyone want to comment on the Santana pulling now? Suppose it goes extra?

If in fact Gardenhire was looking towards tomorrow and using Santana then, well, that might be bad managing. Gotta take it 1 game at a time and I think this game shows it.

Talk about a turn of events...
