as for the 5th spot, Jose Capellan pitched pretty well as a starter in AAA (4-2, 2.51 ERA), earlier this spring Leo Mazzone made a comment saying he believed that Juan Cruz could be a solid major league starter, and the Braves will likely bring a couple of Pitchers to training camp. So even if the Braves lose Ortiz and Wright they still won't be to bad off.
    Mike Hampton
    Jaret Wright
    Horacio Ramirez
    John Thomson
    Dan Meyer/Kyle Davies

Juan Cruz proved that he is nothing more than a fastball pitcher. I think Capellan is better suited as an 8th inning setup man and future closer. I think Meyer could start out as the starter and Davies could take over by midseason.

I think, personally, Pedro's could very well end up in the Bronx. At least one of the Red Sox FAs is going to be a Yankee, or at least heavily pursued by them.

Kris Benson.. he's been solid, but not spectacular. I think he might keep his ERA under 4 for the Mets if he plays a full season for them, but I don't think he'll be back in New York. Maybe a 40% chance.. I'd think Atlanta will make a run for him if they are willing to make a run at an FA. Are they going to try to open the pocketbooks a bit?

Personally, I think the Mets should try to rebuild like they were going to. As long as the Mets get rid of Zambrano.. I'll consider the Mets offseason a success!

Hey guys, just hope if your team is looking for relievers that they don't sign Stone or Watkins (recently released by the Padres)... they're basically bullpen pitchers.

Pedro will resign with Boston. He has already said he knows he'll be taking a pay cut. He also has said recently that he wants to come back. I think the Red Sox priority should be:

                1. Varitek
                2. Cabrera
                3. Pedro

Depending on what the Mets do with Piazza.. Varitek could be an attractive option. I don't think the Mets'll move Piazza though. Piazza's not going to play first a lot next year, that's for sure... so Vartiek might not be a Met.

Are there any other centerfielders not named Beltran that will be in the free agent market?

They have a relatively decent number.. Lowe is one too I believe, and there's a few others I can't think of off the top of my head.
