Yes, but these are the Sox we're talking about.

They sure as heck quit with two outs, 1 strike away in Game 6 in '86.

This team just won't be able to bounce back... no wonder I don't like the Red Sox :P

Just one game, just one pitcher.
I agree. That's the main reason I don't think tonight's game will be indicative of the entire series. I could be wrong of course, but I don't like what I see in the rest of the Yankees rotation. Lieber is pitching well lately, but we'll see if that holds up. You just don't know about Brown at this point, Vasquez has been giving up a lot of HR's this year and El Duque can't feel his arm.

However, IF Schilling is hurt worse than he or Boston led everyone to believe, he might not make his next scheduled start and that would be a big blow for Boston IMO.

Quit in '86 huh? I'm not even a Red Sox fan but I openly have to wonder about your avatar and your motive behind that statement.

Quit is the furthest thing from the truth.

if schilling is injured for the whole series then this series is pretty much over.

edit: also, i'm not watching the game, but can someone explain why mussina is pitching so well. Is he throwing harder then before, do his breaking pitches work well tonight, or are the red sox just in a funk.

                  I think i jinxed him.

I was scared to death back then :O, I really thought the Red Sox had the series won.. had the Mets by the proverbial private parts :P At least the Mets won.. but I think the pressure got to the Sox bigtime then.

Of course, they started believing in a curse not that long afterwards when that guy wrote the article for the Boston Globe(I think? Shaugnessey? Correct me if I'm wrong). Since then.. I'm thinking maybe they really do believe in fairy tales up there.

I don't want to see the Yankees win, mind you, nothing feels better than hearing about Steinbrenner choking on his spittle after yelling at whoever may listen after a loss.. I especially don't want to see them win like this. It's like.. it's almost too easy so far for the Yankees. Could the team on the other end of a Game 1 blowout bounce back? Of course. Do I think the Red Sox can bounce back? History.. to me anyway, says no. If only Boston wouldn't think about so called "Curse of the Bambino" garbage or "Yankee Magic" garbage.. their fortunes would surely be different :P

Perfecto over.. now maybe the Sox can at least make it close. If they can somehow get on the board and put up a couple of runs.. maybe they can use the momentum for Game 2.
