Yea in NY they're calling for rain all day. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the game postponed. Both clubs are probably hoping it does anyways. All their pitchers are exhausted, not to mention I bet Posada and Varitek can't even feel their own knees anymore.

Out of the 25 teams who have gone down 0-3 in a series, only 2 have forced a game 6.Comment

Re: Yankees-Red Sox ALCS Thread
We'll see which Curt Schilling shows up tomorrow (or Wednesday if there's rain). I think it will be a better one than what we saw in Game 1 but I'm not expecting vintage Schilling.
If the Yankees win this series (and they should) I think MLB is going to have to consider giving the MVP award to Ortiz, even though he'd bo on the losing team. Without him, the Sox get swept. All 3 Sox wins at Fenway were walk-off wins supplied by the bat of David Ortiz.
Both teams are probably praying for rain because these bullpens have got to be tired.
Tim Wakefield was clutch tonight. His knuckler was really dancing (as evidenced by all the passed balls), I think Leskanic was warming because they didn't want to lose on a passed ball by Wakefield, if someone got to third.Comment

Re: Yankees-Red Sox ALCS Thread
Walks, walks, walks. The Yanks have beaten themselves the last two games. Not taking anything from Boston and the clutch hitting of Ortiz but if the walks dont happen their is no clutch hitting for Ortiz to do. The game last night should have never gone to extras and the same with tonight. El Duque sets up a big inning for Boston last night and the Mo walks the tying run in the ninth. Tonight Moose walks in a run and again, the tying run is put on in the 8th on a walk. If the Yanks dont stop walking runners in crucial situations, we are going to see history made. Of course it will probably go seven with Boston finding a way to lose on Wed(Thur if it rains out Tues) However, I would have walked Ortiz in the 8th even though the baseball gods say you dont walk someone to bring up the tying run. But I dont think they pinch run Roberts for Ortiz in that situation and I would have taken my chances with Millar. And if you do pitch to him you dont put an 0-1 pitch in the location that Gordon gave him.
As a side note, I am extremely pissed off at DTV, FOX, FX. Being in STL, my fox was t show the NLCS while FX was supposed to show the ALCS. Well I was able to watch STL/Hou on both channels.S.O.S Crew

I still was a fan of both teams even after the Mets won in '86.. went to Yankee Stadium a couple of times when the Yanks were struggling in the 80s and it wasn't as crowded then as it is now obviously.
However, when I started reading newspapers, I've seen stories and everything about what George Steinbrenner is capable of. I do feel Steinbrenner is.. well.. evil, I just lost my appetite of being a Yankee fan because of Steinbrenner. I mean.. he mistreated Winfield, who was one of my favorite players growing up. Of course I'd be really mad at him.
Steinbrenner's basically the same guy he was back then, only because the Yankees are winners, it's all swept into the closet. The fans and media here are all weird like that.. NY fans are the oddest bunch of oddballs in the world(and I am a fan of two NY teams, Mets and Giants.) The other problem with the Yankees is the fact that because they're winning they got a bunch of new fans that are all 'hardcore' and stuff... but when you ask 'em about.. uh.. who threw the no hitter for the Yankees and lost, and ask 'em about Kevin Maas, who was hyped to be Derek Jeter before there was a Derek Jeter, you see blank looks on their faces. I find it easier to discuss sports with longer time Yankee fans than newer ones.. even though all NY fans are crazy in some way :PComment

This has shaped up to be a monumental series....I guess galotorres was wrong :y4: It'll be interesting to see which Schilling shows up in Game 6 but if he starts to look bad early on then I hope Francona puts Wakefield in. I know that the Sox bullpen is messed up right now so you might as well put in the knuckleball guy and hope for the best.
The one thing that is bothering me about the Yanks, why in the world don't they walk Ortiz? The man is just clutch right now. Either way it's gonna be one hell of a wild ride.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Yankees-Red Sox ALCS Thread
good point Sportsman.. i was wondering that myself.. David Oritz has been coming up huge for the Sox, but yet they keep pitching to him in the late innings. That was a pretty good pitch that Loiaza threw to him, but with the winning run on base, one should not pitch to him..Comment
