Re: 4/18 - 5/1 Game Discussion Thread
If he was on a different team he would be, IMO. It's like the awards discussion and how Goldschmidt was before last season. He was always a great player but is playing on a baaaaaad team. But you put in Boston/NYY, hell probably even TOR, he would be in that discussion.Comment

Re: 4/18 - 5/1 Game Discussion Thread
And a lot of great players are like that. Their talent goes unmentioned or they are under the radar. Like the guy I mentioned in Goldschmidt. Dude is a beast but NEVER got the recognition of a Trout, Machado, Harper. Hell even a guy like McCutchen was popular than Goldschmidt. Go look at his 2013 season. He was great .300+ avg, over 30 HR's and over 100 RBI with an ops of .952 and GG caliber D. Dude didn't receive any 1st place votes. Now McCutchen got 28 but Yadier Molina got 2. And I think Goldy was better than Yadi that year. The comparison of their WAR was 7.1 for Goldy to 5.6 for Yadi. http://www.baseball-reference.com/aw...13.shtml#NLmvpComment

That's a great point. There's always players that don't get love because of the market they play in or the team they play on.Boston Red Sox

Re: 4/18 - 5/1 Game Discussion Thread
Prior to this season, I would absolutely watch Braves games to watch Freeman.
It's too bad injuries seemed to have derailed him."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yea I thought about bringing up Freeman but I don't know if he is on the same level as the guys TripleCrown mentioned. I would definitely have to think about that one.Comment

With Arenado I think he needs another year like last year then I would consider him in that territory. Also you will hear people up the Coors effect with him.Comment

Good road trip for the Mariners, going 6-3. Now if only they can play decent at home.Comment

Re: 4/18 - 5/1 Game Discussion Thread
Freeman is the only player on the team that could be considered above average, but he's playing awful so far so not worth watching. Every other player on the roster is either way too young, over the hill, or should be a career bench player."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. Re: 4/18 - 5/1 Game Discussion Thread
Melvin Upton ejected for arguing balls and strikes late in a game that's looking like it might go extras.
As I say that Carpenter triples and the Cards lead 6-5.
And Grichuk drives home 2 more. These Cardinals....Last edited by bcruise; 04-24-2016, 06:29 PM.Comment
