    5/16 - 5/29 Game Discussion Thread

This thread will take us up to Memorial Day. Yikes. Already closing out two months of the season.

Can't believe that two months of the season is almost over.

Cardinals host the Rockies for 3 in the next series. Really need a sweep.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

M's need a new closer, Cieshek is hot garbage, only problem is Zych, Furbush and Benoit are all on the DL, so we have no options. Can't wait for Edwin Diaz to get called up. He was recently converted to a RP, he was throwing 96 as a SP, so he should be in that 98-99 range out of the pen. He will (Should) be closing by years end. I'd love to have Carson Smith back, but what can ya do?

Slowly but surely the offense is starting to come around for the Jays but they need to be more consistent about it. As it is now, it's looking like a .500 season. Maybe the big brawl in Texas can be a turning point for them and serve as the kick in the pants they need.

Anyone else see Brian Kenny breaking down the comparison of the 1998 Yanks/2016 Cubs? At this point in the season the Yanks were at a +50 run differential while the Cubs are at +114. At the end of the segment he still gives the edge to the Yankees, but pointed out that just the fact the Cubs are in the discussion at this point is special.

Interestingly enough, the Yankees had a much deeper lineup, which is odd because when I think Cubs I think offense...it was the pitching, however, that kept the Cubs in the discussion. Will be interesting to see how it plays out over the summer!

Personally I'm looking forward to seeing the Red Sox offense vs the Cubs' pitching in October. Not so much vice versa.

Phillies have 3 against the Marlins and 3 against the Braves this week. Going to the games tomorrow and Friday. Hoping for at least a 4-2 record in these games.

I wish they'd bring back Clubhouse Confidential vs. this MLB Now format. I really enjoyed looking at stats, trends, etc. from an empirical perspective with the Shredder and Sabermetrics as it challenged how I look at stats and players.

Yet another fun stat to overlay the Braves woes.

We are currently on pace to match the Cubs at 41.

                        They'd have 41 losses.
                        We'd have 41 wins.

Jones even doles out some veteran advice, suggesting Harper cover his mouth with his hand or glove next time so that the cameras don't pick it up.

The Braves will need to hit a hot streak to hit 41 wins.
