I wish I could've heard what was said between him and Joc on that pop up where Puig cut in front of Joc to catch it.

As for Heyward, I think getting hit in the face could've done something, but his swing is just weird, too. Maybe because his arms are so long, but it looks like he's chopping down on the ball instead matching the plane of the pitch.

Cubs are REALLY taking advantage of Puig's defense in this inning.

I just realized that once Hammel came out, this became a Wood battle... and they're both lefties, to boot.

Forgot to make the new thread. It's okay, just use this one for today too. Obviously, since you guys are already lol. As for Heyward, I don't know what's wrong with him. All I know is that it wouldn't surprise me that the day he got nailed in the face with a pitch ruined him forever, because I was at that game and it would only be fitting.

Don't know how much him getting nailed in the face a couple of years back has to do with everything, too. He's a .290 hitter off RHP from 2013-2015, and only .234 off LHP. Although splits like those are somewhat common for lefties, his might be even further enhanced as a result of the Niese fastball.
The day Niese nailed Heyward in the face finished the 2013 Braves' season (the offense was rolling with him hitting leadoff) and really changed him as a hitter. Before that, he was a decent enough hitter off of LHP...since then, he's been abysmal. That said, he has always had WAY too many moving parts in his swing...it's long, he stands to far away from the plate, he comes out and around the baseball instead of taking his hands to the ball, just all sorts of goofy.

Astros make it 3 in a row and 6 of 7 with a win over Arizona. Keep it up, boys!

He's actually been a plus fielder this year according to UZR. The problem is the hitting skills collapsed.

He peaked two years and should have been shipped out while we still could have gotten a good return, but the fan base treats him like he's some kind of superstar and I don't think Friedman wanted to deal with the backlash.

If it weren't for a wind-aided pop-fly single that Jason Heyward still could have caught, the Dodgers would have gotten no-hit today.

I wouldn't roster Carl Crawford for the league minimum. Instead we're paying him $21 million this year and next.

                        Thanks, Ned Colleti.

Would've been a combined no no, which is even more rare thanks to Hammel leaving early.

Announcers were right. You see Werth and Murphy coming up, you gotta go after the likes of a Ben Revere. Odds are he's not going to park one.
