Re: 2016 MLB Draft
I absolutely love the Kyle Lewis pick, he has Adam Jones potential... But and this is a huge BUT Jack-Z loves him, which can only mean one thing, he's going to suck. We can never have nice things.
But an OF of Leonys Martin, Tyler O'Neill/Alex Jackson, and Kyle Lewis is nice in theory.Green Bay PackersSeattle MarinersNew York Rangers

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
I rather a bat than an arm but this kid (if signed) can maybe help down the stretch this year. Craig went 3 slots later to the Pirates, so we shall see. Anyways, here's NY Mets #1
Name: Justin Dunn
Hometown: Freeport, New York
Height: 6'2"
Throws/Bats: R/S
Previous Draft History: 2013, Los Angeles Dodgers (37th Round)
The scouting report: Dunn uses four pitches, including a four-seam fastball capable of touching into the mid-to-high 90s, along with a high-80s slider and slower breaking ball. In addition, Dunn has a changeup capable of rolling off the table on hitters.

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
And the Dodgers have selected Jordan Sheffield. As I mentioned earlier son of Gary Sheffield and brother of Justus Sheffield (Indians prospect).Last edited by redsox4evur; 06-09-2016, 10:08 PM.Comment

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
Two things
1. Jack Z was really channeling Telly Savalas tonight
2. I love the first pick by the Jays. That guy looks like he could be a monster out of the bullpen but if he develops secondary stuff he could equally be as good as a starter.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
I saw an article earlier today that compared him to MadBum. And I was just watching some highlights and his curveball is filthy. One of the best I have seen from a HS.Comment

Groome has everything to be an elite pitcher but if his maturity issues are real than all the talent in the world won't cut it.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

But immaturity issues from a 17 year old come on. Also do we even know what these issues are? I haven't seen anything on them.Last edited by redsox4evur; 06-09-2016, 10:26 PM.Comment

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
I will grant you that if you're looking at a kid that's not something to worry too much about if everything else is amazing but it was a knock that was made by the MLB-N folks. There is also a question about his signability as he's been said to be demanding top 3 pick money.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Edit: I know he got suspended this year and had some stats removed included his No-Hitter. But that was because of his team not reporting his transfer back or something.Last edited by redsox4evur; 06-09-2016, 10:38 PM.Comment

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
I knew about the signability issue. I wasn't home when the pick was made. So I haven't heard any on-air analysis of him, just read stuff on Twitter. I was hoping MLBN was going to re-air the first round tonight but they aren't sadly. But I think the Sox are going to take below slot guys with their next couple picks so they can pay Groome. And did they mention what the issues were? Just wondering because I really can't dismiss them where I don't know what they are?
It's weird though, as they went into detail about the SS that took PEDs but didn't really get into the nitty gritty of Groome's issues.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: 2016 MLB Draft
They were really vague about it but it seems to amount to handling the responsibilities that go along with being a pro ballplayer. I didn't know about he signability stuff but putting 2 and 2 together it feels like they're taking the story of how he seemed like he was going to be happy anywhere he's picked to suddenly wanting to get the big bucks and using that to measure his maturity level.
It's weird though, as they went into detail about the SS that took PEDs but didn't really get into the nitty gritty of Groome's issues.
And that is definitely weird that they were willing to go in depth on that SS but not Groome.Comment

We all know that the MLB draft doesn't get the notoriety as basketball or football but it doesn't get any better than this....
