      He has a .175/.261/.350 line for a .611 OPS

AJ Pierzynski: .199/.226/.244 line for a .469 OPS
Erick Aybar: .208/.267/.254 fora .571 OPS

That's that right, Atlanta...some folks need to be DFA'd.

The DH can only bat for the pitcher. If the pitcher hits, then there is no DH.

Y'know, I really like this Indians team from what i'm seeing. I'll definitely have a clearer picture after this series but first impressions tell me this is a very old school team fundamentally. Very much like the Royals except without the crazy base stealing and the starters pitch deeper into games.

Cubs self-destructing in the 7th at Citi Field. Baez with a really bad decision to throw that ball in the vicinity of 3B instead of getting the 2nd out at 1st.

Yeah...I thought Atlanta had a chance against them after we swept NYM.

                Nope.

Meanwhile, Napoli has a near 35% strikeout rate and a .318 BABIP and on pace for 30 HRs. I cannot stand these all or nothing players (K or HR) as I think far too many teams place too much value in it.

                    Actually, it says exactly that.

Yeah, you cannot start using a DH in the middle of the game if he's not inserted in the lineup initially.

                      Per MLB rule 5.11.a.3:

Coverage includes audio and video clips, interviews, statistics, schedules and exclusive stories.

It is not mandatory that a club designate a hitter for the
pitcher, but failure to do so prior to the game precludes
the use of a Designated Hitter for that club for that game.

It just says the DH is used to hit for the pitcher, it doesn't say the DH can't hit for anyone else. There's a loophole there.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a designated fielder.

                                Huh?

If it says the DH is used for the pitcher that means it cannot be used for anyone else.

Why would teams not have used this loophole all this time instead of letting some soft hitting shortstop bat .200?

                                It's for the pitcher.
