It'll be interesting to see what these Rangers do before Monday. They had the best record in the AL for a chunk of the 1st half and the Astros are now breathing down their necks. Texas is still only percentage points behind Baltimore and Cleveland for best record in the AL even after slumping badly.

In some ways we might've seen this coming because their run differential has not matched their record all season. Texas is 15 games over .500 with a much weaker +1 run differential (Houston is +58 so them catching Texas seems inevitable unless something changes). Even Buck Showalter and the O's would be proud of over-performing their pythag by that much.

I still think Texas has a playoff caliber team, but it's put up or shut up time for their front office. Are they just going to talk trade or are they actually going to use their ridiculously good farm system to get another Cole Hamels like last year?

Cardinals beat Marlins to draw to a tie for the 2nd wildcard spot. Come on boys lets win 2 more and take a lead in this thing.

The Cubs optioned Tommy LaStella to AAA to make room for Coghlan. With Soler coming back soon as well, there's gonna be some interesting decisions to be made this week.

Indeed. It'll be interesting to see if we can pull off a trade for a SP or OF to consolidate some roster spaces. Not that depth and redundancies are a bad thing.

Jays-O's in a big series beginning today. O's best case is having 4.5 game lead over Jays in the division by end of this series, Jays best case is having 1.5 game lead over the O's in division.

Mike Montgomery looks awful. 3rd appearance with the Cubs and he's now given up runs in all 3. Currently has the bases loaded in a 12-1 Cubs rout. This guy needs a huge lead for the team to feel safe. Incredible that he walked 2 guys with a 12 run lead.

Man, that trade is looking HORRIBLE for the Cubs.

He has a .846 OPS this year in fairly sporadic play.

I feel sorry for him, I think the Cubs could package him to a team that can play him everyday because the kid can hit and get on base.

Maddon loves LaStella, so I can't imagine they'll trade him. I think they'll try to move Coghlan somehow to make room for Soler over the next couple of days.

LaStella was optioned because he had options left and Coghlan didn't. That's the only reason.

Jays win I gotta say the O's had legit beef with the balls and strikes tonight but as a Jays fan i'll take it.

Ya, it's nice to see it happen to the other team for a change. Jays are on the receiving end of the bad calls the majority of times there are bad calls in their games.

Jason Grilli is so excited. Grew up a Jays fan, finally gets chance to play for Jays, and it happens to be during playoff push season

It makes me grin like a fool every time I see Grilli leave the mound all pumped up like that. He's truly living the dream playing for his favorite team as a kid trying to bring home another World Series ring.

Pisses me off that the Giants have let the Dodgers back into the division race.

What happened in the 8th inning tonight was absolutely amazing. Down 3, bases loaded and no outs, Brandon Crawford lines to first and the Nationals convert a triple play. At around the same time, the Dodgers scored the go-ahead run against the Diamondbacks.

These are "sports universe"-type things that are the worst of signs.

That Nationals triple play was the first ever 3-3-5 triple play in MLB history.
