Phillies calling up top pitching prospect Jake Thompson to start on Saturday in San Diego. Thompson is 11-5 with a 2.50 ERA in 21 starts at Triple-A.

I feel like this guy's gonna be a stud. He's very well rounded...his repertoire seems pretty solid based on MLB.com's scouting report--alot of 50's and 60's. Plus he's been very hidden behind the Giolitos and Uriases and Glasnows....so he doesn't have huge expectation that could turn into pressure.

A rotation of Nola, Velasquez, Hellickson (if he resigns), Eickhoff and Thompson is pretty darn good.

Some MLB records being set. Jays-Astros combined for most strikeouts in a 4 game series in MLB history. Jays also set MLB record for most strikeouts in a 4 game series by a single team. Despite that, Jays won 3/4 games, had 29 hits and 7 home runs. Both teams combined for just 15 runs in those 4 games!

Also for the Jays, they've now hit 14 straight solo home runs. Don't know the MLB record, but I believe Jays franchise record is 15.

Corey Seager hit HR #19 tonight. That ties him with Hanley Ramirez for the most HR's in a season by a Dodgers SS.

Kinda hard to believe the number is that low.

Pirates drop 2 of 3 to the Braves. Horrible showing, Kang with opening the door for 3-4 unearned runs. Back to .500.

Mark Teixeira isn't a HOF'r, but he's had a great, great career and been one of my favorite players. He was a tremendous fielding first baseman in his prime, a real power hitter (400 HR's/400 2B's), and being a switch hitter provided a lot of flexibility to a manager. It seems a lifetime ago that he was a 3B for the Texas Rangers...and even though the Braves gave up way more for him than the should have, he played great for us while he was here.

I've always pulled for him...will be sad to see him go.

Great career. Clearly his body is telling him it's time to go.

                      Good luck to him.
