Re: 7/25 - 8/7 Game Discussion Thread
They're like Leafs fans before the years and years of losing and bad management killed their spirit. Every year without exception Leafs fans would call into local radio proclaiming how great the team is and how fringe players would have breakout years and become superstars. It was pretty comical.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Two homeruns in two innings, that's pretty nuts.
The question is. If you have to choose one 3b to build around, who would you take? Machado,Arenado,Donaldson, or Bryant? I'm not sure you can go wrong.

Re: 7/25 - 8/7 Game Discussion Thread
Machado has 3 in 3 innings.
And him because I think he's also the youngest out of the 3. I didn't see Arenado at first but I haven't seen a lot of him. He seems like NL Machado, but still older if only by a little. Machado is the third point in the Harper Trout triangle.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I'm taking Arenado, Machado is really, really good. But Arenado is like the Andrelton Simmons of 3b, he makes some insane plays over there.
3 hrs though, wow... Why even pitch to him now?

Re: 7/25 - 8/7 Game Discussion Thread
IMO, the answer to that question is Machado and it really isn't even close:
1) Machado is the youngest of the 4, although he's close to Arenado/Bryant.
2) Machado is an elite defensive 3B plus an elite bat. Bryant may not even stay at 3B.
3) Arenado has a 200 point OPS split between home/road in his career. He's a good hitter, but Coors Field has most certainly helped him. Bryant has a 150 point difference between home/away. Machado has a 100 point split.
I wouldn't even consider Josh Donaldson...dude is 31 soon and shouldn't be in discussions about "building a future around" IMO."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: 7/25 - 8/7 Game Discussion Thread
Arenado has 15 homeruns at Coors, 12 in away games, not much power drop-off, at least this year. However, there's about a 50 point different in his batting average home/road splits.

Re: 7/25 - 8/7 Game Discussion Thread
I'd take Arenado any day over Machado. Machado's had way too many bitchmade moments during his career thus far are enough to drive me into Arenado's corner.Last edited by TheMatrix31; 08-07-2016, 03:22 PM.Comment

Re: 7/25 - 8/7 Game Discussion Thread
I think Arenado is just a tad better defensively then Machado, but still it stands out. He's an incredible gloveman in the hot corner, I'm blown away when something gets by him, and his arm is a rocket, off-balance, doesn't matter.
Of course Machado is right there.
