To answer this stupid poll, I definitely wouldn't say AROD. AROD is perfect for the present day yankees. Absolutely, perfect. All 250 million dollars of him. All of him, standing on second base, hands on his head, lying in front of the entire world, trying to get away with the most bush-league play ever witnessed in Yankee stadium. arod IS the perfect yankee.Comment

It seems that you hate the Yankees way too much to see the real Arod.
You judged him on that one play. Was it wrong? Hell yea it was. But it was also out of desperation. It wasnt planned out beforehand, he just got real desperate. I AM NOT justifying it, but if you put yourself in his shoes, Im pretty sure you would do the same thing. Would Jeter do that? No, I dont think he would.. but Jeter is a special kind of player and person, and unless you are too, you would have done the same.
When Arod stood at second base throwing his arms in the air, I can see that also! Yes I can see it because Im not blind to the facts. Ill explain. He was called safe... the score was 4-3... and the crowd was really into it. Do you think he would say, "Hey ump, Im sorry but I smacked his arm so call me out please." Umm... Nope. Thats like a pitcher who gets a called 3rd strike on a clear ball. Hes not gonna say "Ump, that really was a strike." And yea... it is the same reasoning...
ONCE AGAIN... i AM NOT justifying his actions. Im simply say look beyond it and put yourself in his shoes. He is a VERY classy player and I would take him on my team anytime. Thank you for your timeComment

Look, take a look at my location. I watched AROD for several years as a Mariner and never took to him. I've always found him to be phony, to cover his disengenous, calculating and greedy nature behind a put-upon air of professionalism and class. The truth is nothing good ever happens for the teams he's a part of... look at the Mariners after his departure (116 wins), the Rangers going from last to nearly first this season, now the Yankees with the worst single-season choke-job in the history of the game.
As for putting myself in his shoes... well, unfortunately I've hit my share of two hoppers down the first base line in fat white-guy softball games and have never tried anything as Bush as knock the ball out of the pitcher's glove when he tagged me in the gut as I huffed down the firstbase-line, much less act like I'd done nothing wrong or go as far as to say it's my natural style of running to flail my arms out, and succeed in getting a stadium full of 'classy' fans to start throwing garbage on the field. I know the yankees motto is 'to win at any cost' but that's just f'ing sad to want to win that way.
But if you want to play apologist for the ROD and build your team around him, by all means, go ahead. I believe it's AROD's destiny to be the Anit-Ruth in the Red Sox/Yankees saga. But if I were a yankee fan he'd be the first one I'd want out of town.
In the mean time I decided to vote for Rivera, Bernie and Posada being the next guys out of town... because as original, deserving and respected members of the yankees franchise, they deserve better than to be on this abomination of a baseball team.Comment

Re: Who has to go
There's also that part in Moneyball where, I believe it's Hatteberg, who, while watching film, notices Arod trying to peak at the catcher's signs when he's at the plate. We also saw him during the ALCS practically standing behind homeplate when on-deck trying to watch the pitcher's delivery.
I voted Brown, mainly because he was a bust all year and that episode where between him and the clubhouse walle has divided him and with the rest of the clubhouse. I expect the Yankees to eat his salary by either trading him or releasing him. Brown may never pitch again if he can't get his back in order. I think the only thing that will bring him back next year is the desire to not end his career on such a sour note.
No one will take Giambi who has the stupidest contract in the game that keeps increasing in value every year. I thought player's were supposed to earn their incentives? It's worth more to the Yankees to give him another shot before entertaining the idea of eating his salary through a trade.
Heredia is most likely done, but I wouldn't give up on Gordon. He was lights out throughout most of the regular season but was overworked which lead to his October collapse. If Torre manages him properly throughout the regular season its probably the Yankees that are in the World Series instead of the Red Sox. Tanyon Sturtze will probably compete for a starting job next spring, though I wouldn't award it to him.
I can't see the Yankees giving up on Vasquez. He has too good of stuff. When they signed him a lot of people were comparing it to the Schilling trade by saying it may not appear better after one season, but in the long run it's a better deal. If he caves under the pressure again next year then you'll see the Yankees get rid of him at the deadline like they did Contreras.
I'd expect the Yankees rotation next year to be:
Mussina
Lieber
Vasquez
Pavano
Sturtze
I can see the Yankees overpaying a guy like Carl Pavano and luring him into Yankee pinstripes. If they don't get him expect them to make a run at Clement and possibly Randy Johnson. The hard part in aquiring Johnson is finding the prospects to get him.Comment

Re: Who has to go
Where in the hell is Sturtze?!?!?! I have never hated a player so much before. He is a bigger log than what floats in my toilet. If Steinbrenner doesnt get rid of him, I will be ashamed.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment
