          Brown, Giambi and Williams

The only reason for bernie is because there has been lots of rumors of him being traded/let go and I figured it will happen. (i could see it) I think the other two are self-explanatory.

You acually put Rivera down as an choice?
Yeah, that's stupid but IMO Rivera is WAY, WAY overrated. Torre and some critics keep calling him the "best closer of all-time". The ALCS series kind of said why that comment is so wrong...

he gave up one run the whole time (if i'm not mistaken), that does not make him overrated imo (though it was a crucial run). He worked more innings then most yankees pitchers against one of the best lineups.

One series does not define a career. Throughout the Yanks post season run he has been as close to automatic as it gets. The game 4 loss, yeah he blew it by walking the lead off runner but the Yanks also could not get an insurance run in the top half of the inning when they had one on with less than two outs. As for game 5, he came in with the tying run on 3rd and 0 outs. I doubt anyone could have gotten out of that situation. He has been lights out for 8 years and again, 1 series does not change that.
The problem he is facing is that he is getting older and he no longer gets the strikeouts he used to.

You guys are right, but what I'm saying here is that he's not the "best closer of all time". He is definately one of the best of all time and an amazing player, but not the best.

                          Re: Who has to go

I am not naive enough to say he is the best of all time yet when it comes to the postseason I would. Granted he has had more chances than any other closer before him but he still got it done when it counted. At least the majority of the time. Obviously Eck would be up there as well as Fingers and possibly even Sutter. Smith was aslo pretty good yet I dont know how I would rank them. Then you have a handful of people like Gagne, Hoffman, Goose, and on and on, that could be thrown into the debate as well.

                              Brown- Too old
Giambi- lost a lot since his ailment
                              Bernie Williams- Will probably retire
Lofton- Just a spare part these days

                              I don't think he's listed but:

Olerud- this was probably his last productive season in the bigs
