I think youngMelo has been following in his mentors footsteps by puffing the wacky tobacky. Gagne has not blown a postseason save yet how many chances has he had? Exactly. Like Jets said look at 96,98,99,00,02,03. No one has been that dominant before and will probably not be again. But hey smoke some more for me ok.

It's going to take a while for the Yankees to restructure their organization if they want to get thinks back to the dynasty of the late 90's. They're an old team now, not a ton of youth, esp. in the pitching staff.

They're just gonna have to start over probably. This is what happened in the late 80's and early 90's after the late 70's dynasty. The whole farm system was depleted and they had nothing to build on after Reggie, Thurman and Guidry's days were over. Though they have Jeter, A-Rod, Matsui and Posada who are relatively young, the staff is just awful. I've heard alot bout them getting rid of Javi Vazquez, but I don't want them to give up on him yet. He's not a Jeff Weaver, he's not a mental case. He's having a transition year from the NL to the AL. Especially after the good first-half of the season that he had, it's way too early to give up on him. Rivera is too old to for constant 2-inning saves in the post season, and God only knows what happened to Flash Gordon in the post season. There is no way the cork incident effected his pitching that much. Giambi I think deserves one more chance.

Funny that the Yanks didn't win one game after Olerud got injuried. And he's exactly the kind of player that made the Yankees so great 5 years ago. Him and Cairo, those type of role players. Now there is a superstar or future Hall of Famer at every position.


I think they just need to restart, and there will be alot of turnover again this off season. I don't want Randy Johnson for 1 or 2 years. We NEED YOUTH. Steinbrenner doesn't want to build a true dynasty anymore. He doesn't understand the importance of chemistry.


Alot of things need to change, otherwise the Yankees will quickly tarnish a 100 years of greatness.

When the Yankees need him most he just can't come out on top, we can talk about this forever but all it comes down to is that boston is playing St.Louis. Its not his fault they lose all four games but two are.He is a closer and his job is to close.

Rivera has not lost anything. Look at his regular season stats in 2002 through 2004. I've already shown you his postseason stats, so there's no arguing his 0.53 ERA. Now, I can see how people thing Gagne is better than Rivera, and that's fine. But Rivera's lost nothing.

I think George should stay out of the front office and just pay the salaries. People have been blaming Cashman for not being able to get Randy Johnson, but what can he do when the team has no 1st round picks because of all the free agents George goes out and gets?
